After what, 10 years and after seeing how tired Starfield looks ...Bethesda has a lot riding on whatever/whenever they do a Fallout sequel. BGS is basically where BioWare was after Anthem, and BioWare has yet to recover 5 years later.

Yep, I tried F4 twice, and never finished - I can't quite recall why. But they do open world exploration really well, especially with little touched - journals, notes, datapad entries etc - some of those are really atmospheric...

That describes most of Bethesda's games for me. Still enjoyable though, and I always get my money's worth.
I've put more hours into Skyrim than I have most any other game and have never beat it. Like with MMOs, I just run out of steam at some point, but I love every second right up until I don't. I also like Starfield besides all the scanning. Once I'm able to mod the Gamepass version, I'm sure I'll put endless hours into it.

I never managed to finish Fallout 4...just ran out of enthusiasm. I did enjoy roaming about, but that only carries you so far.
I think I would have enjoyed it more if I could order the civies to build up the communities without excessive supervision. Just give them priorities and let me rescue the required specialists. Right now detailed settlement building just feels like another form of grinding.

There's a mod that allows you to tell the civies what to build, and they'll add to the settlement while you're out exploring.

The second one has quest-related stuff as well, so if you just want the sim part of it use the first one. You can't use both in the same game.

Everyone is the best game designer ever on their YouTube channel, and yet they are YouTubers, and not game designers. Might be because game designers study a carreer or two, go through a decade or two of training and experiences in the business, and eventually, through hard work, and good results, get the job; while making a populist YouTube video by compiling common player feedback you read on Steam and voicing them as if they were your own takes virtually no effort.

I believe that the Fallout games didn't stop being amazing because the developer ran out of talent; they stopped being amazing when the studio went into the hands of investors that priorized simplification and dumbing down so that the game became appealing to as many people as possible, giving up on quirkines, uniqueness, and flavor.

BSG needs only look at Larian and take notes - make games to be fun, engaging, and enjoyable; not so much to be profitable. - and the game will be both fun and profitable on its own, especially as BSG is not lacking talent and creativity. It might not be as profitable as it could be, but the good rep and love they'll receive from gamers will well make up for it, now and even more in the future.

Unless you're a shareholder or investor who calls the shots and only cares about every penny you can scrape right now, of course. Which may very well be the case, and it would explain why Fallout games are doomed to keep being pretty decent, well marketed fast food that will never be memorable.

That's an interesting idea. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
Yes, such a mod for automated building sounds interesting. Another mod I would recommend is one that eliminates random attacks on your settlements. (Some attacks, that are needed for story reasons, will still occur.) This also gives you more opportunity to calmly explore the world. For me exploration was the most interesting thing in Fallout 4.

Or one that just reduces them. I actually like the concept of random attacks on the settlements, but sometimes they're a little too frequent. I've seen some people claim it was happening to them every hour. I don't recall it being that often in my game, but I can understand how that would become annoying.

Personally I just want another remake or modern Fallout game like 1 and 2. It'll never happen since Bethesda took over the IP but MS is just sitting on a goldmine. What fools.

True but as it stands I have to agree with @Vaelith then. She makes a good point above.
