Everyone is the best game designer ever on their YouTube channel, and yet they are YouTubers, and not game designers. Might be because game designers study a carreer or two, go through a decade or two of training and experiences in the business, and eventually, through hard work, and good results, get the job; while making a populist YouTube video by compiling common player feedback you read on Steam and voicing them as if they were your own takes virtually no effort.
I believe that the Fallout games didn't stop being amazing because the developer ran out of talent; they stopped being amazing when the studio went into the hands of investors that priorized simplification and dumbing down so that the game became appealing to as many people as possible, giving up on quirkines, uniqueness, and flavor.
BSG needs only look at Larian and take notes - make games to be fun, engaging, and enjoyable; not so much to be profitable. - and the game will be both fun and profitable on its own, especially as BSG is not lacking talent and creativity. It might not be as profitable as it could be, but the good rep and love they'll receive from gamers will well make up for it, now and even more in the future.
Unless you're a shareholder or investor who calls the shots and only cares about every penny you can scrape right now, of course. Which may very well be the case, and it would explain why Fallout games are doomed to keep being pretty decent, well marketed fast food that will never be memorable.
