Game of the Year Awards 2024 - Best RPG
Here are the winners of the Game of The Year 2024 as voted by our members:
Best RPG - Gamers' Choice: Drova - Forsaken Kin
The pixel art Action-RPG Drova - Forsaken Kin is the surprise RPG of 2024. It proves that good games can be made on a budget. Just like in the old Gothic RPGs the game's main focus is exploration, surviving and challenging combat. When you are wandering through the captivating world you keep saying to yourself "just one more quest..." - a worthy number one.
Gamers' Runner Up: SKALD: Against the Black Priory
The retro RPG SKALD: Against the Black Priory is an impressive solo project. This RPG features party based tactical combat, a very good fantasy horror setting and mature storystelling. All in all a well crafted modernization of old school RPGs and a well earned second place!
Gamers' Third Place: Dragon's Dogma 2
Dragon's Dogma 2, the sequel of the 2012 hit, was created by the motto "Never change a running system". So it's basically the old Dragon's Dogma with some new quality of life features - enough for a third place.

Most Watchers voted for None this time. This shows that 2024 was a year of weaker AAA releases and the indie-devs and modders (Fallout London) took advantage of their chance.
The votes of the editors were too varied, so that no game could be marked as Editors' Choice.
PS: RPGwatch uses the Sequential/Dense ranking ("1223" ranking)
