Lineage Eternal, the next installment in the immensely popular (and beautiful) Lineage franchise, is headed for release, and players outside of Asia may even get to see it.

After unveiling a glimpse of Lineage Eternal in a recent gameplay trailer, NCSoft has released more information ahead of the upcoming G-Star show in Korea.

Announced in 2011 at a previous G-Star event, Lineage Eternal : Twilight Resistance is the next incarnation in the astronomically successful Lineage franchise. With Lineage II still massively popular in eastern markets NCSoft is looking to build on this with this latest release. A closed beta for Lineage Eternal has been announced for this winter, and the game is expected to release well after this with a surprise announcement for western fans.

Traditionally, releases in the Korean market have meant a long wait for us in the west to get our hands on the bleeding edge of eastern gaming. Publishers such as NCSoft have required players to validate account and this validation has fundamentally localised releases in the eastern market. Rather than continue with this status quo, it is rumoured Lineage Eternal will allow users to sign up using a new NCSoft platform with a PlayNC, Facebook or Google+ account.

If this is accurate, we could well see a simultaneous worldwide release of Lineage Eternal, which would be a massive step for NCSoft as well as its global fan base. If Lineage does release globally, it could capture a huge market and see off competition from games such as Lost Ark in one stroke. With dynamically generated dungeons, 20 man raids, guild PvP, massive 500 player environments and cloud based mobile gaming support, it’s already shaping up to be far more than just another Diablo 3 competitor.
Thanks to N4G and PixelDynamo for the scoop.

More information.

I have never played any of the Lineage games but I have always heard good PvP stories from people who have so might give it try if it comes to UK. Also I love the soundtrack to Lineage 2 by Bill Brown. I think its one of the best or the the best MMO soundtracks ever.

I played Lineage2 when it got released in the US.
Was decently fun but it had too many features supporting griefing(Especially the PK and tagging system) and OMG the grind, so in the end wasn't for me.
But man the boobs….. uhh character models were great for the time.

Hahaa! I only watched a video on YT. Yes, bouncy boobs. LOL!
But the gameplay was so boring to me that it made Solitaire look like an action game.

I played Lineage 2 years ago when it first came out.....for about 4 hours. Then I deleted it, just not for me, the running style looked awkward to say the least.

Those characters were mmf. I always had such a hard time choosing between human and elf…and all the pretty gear…I was always like

But the grind was bad. I took to playing on private servers after a while, because they made leveling so much easier. They were always just so dead and empty. :/

That sword in the picture is hilarious; in real life it would probably weight more than a hundred kilograms. He'd be dragging it behind him on the ground... :p

Actually, in these Asian games and in anime, you see chicks with massive swords as often as you see dudes with them. Has anyone ever played Tera? ;)

Dr. Freud covered that idea too!

I'm just being facetious. I was just amused by the rather unsubtle example of the dude in the painting. Then Freud also has this theory. No one really takes this seriously anymore.

Yeah, Freud always creeped me out. But then again, I think he creeps everyone out. ;)

That's one reason I don't like JRPGs. :(

Despite he kind of founded psychoanalysis, many of his theories must be looked at critically as they often lack empirical evidence or contradict themselves. There's no reason anyone should be creeped out by him. ;)

There was time I was like that as well. I will get annoyed if something didn't look "real" but I guess I have gone pass that point now. These days I can enjoy a “real” looking and “exaggerated” looking games as well. I don’t know when I changed or why I changed but I think part of the reason for the change is that we are getting so many of these exaggerated looking games now days and I must have accepted them as normal!

The only thing now days is that the game has to be consistent with itself.

The "chicks" in Tera made me cringe and this comes from a guy who has no issues with "hot chicks" in other MMOs

I did play Tera for a while. I think it has one of the best Action combat in any MMO I have played but other areas of the game left lot to be desired.
