Joxer spotted this announcement for Vendetta - Curse of Raven's Cry:

Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry to arrive on the 20th of November
Pirates! Whispered rumors spread faster in the Caribbean than scurvy on the seven seas. Today we received an urgent warning, and its contents have been confirmed; anti-hero Christopher Raven and his deadly crew have been sighted spreading fear and violence across the open world of the Caribbean in the upcoming action-adventure RPG, Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry!

Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry takes players on an epic adventure featuring the dread pirate Captain Christopher Raven as he scours the Caribbean on a quest for revenge. Cut, sail, slash and shoot your way across the Antilles, from pirate hideouts to unexplored savage islands and sprawling plantations. Make choices ranging from the moral to the monstrous, while you walk the razor’s edge between gaining your revenge and becoming the very thing you’re hunting.

With over 50 hours of playing time, 120 minutes of cinematic video recordings and new quests and voice-over work, Christopher Raven’s ship is loaded for war like never before. Don’t worry, Christopher Raven will leave no brother of the coast behind! Those who took to the seas with Christopher in Raven’s Cry will receive a free upgrade to Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry from the Captain himself.

New features in Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry:

  • Scores of new characters and more than 200 side-quests enrich the gaming experience, while existing quests have been extended and enhanced.
  • Locations have been polished and enhanced with improved optics; from flora & fauna to the new (dangerous) wildlife lurking on the shores and in the jungles of the Caribbean.
  • Numerous items have been added, including new equipment that affects game-play, like hats, amulets and a variety of new weapons.
  • The combat system has been enhanced, from Christopher Raven’s fighting techniques to his opponent’s behavior, both in and out of combat.
  • A new reward system has been integrated into the game-play and combat.
  • Sea adventures have been optimized with new upgrades and a new free-sailing mode has been added.
  • An advanced and optimized trade and economic system with numerous new distributors and negotiable items have been implemented.
  • Shaman skills allow the brewing of powerful potions and tinctures.
  • Ship personalization and customization has been overhauled, thanks to new figureheads, different colored sails, and new hull colors.
  • New videos and cut-scenes have been added using facial motion capture technology.
  • A more streamlined and accessible quest log and help system has been added, including notifiers for quest difficulty and an overhauled quest interface.
  • New game achievements document the progress of your achievements and accomplishments.
  • Completely new English voice recordings and lip-synching.
The digital release of Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry will be available on the 20th of November, 2015 for PC, Mac, Linux and SteamOS in both Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions. A retail and console version is scheduled for release in Q1 2016.

So we are to trust a developer that released a game you cannot finish and that was filled with problems? It's not a release - it's a re-release - and if they have any class at all they will give it free to everyone who bought the game the first time.

This will definitely be one I wait until a lot of reviews are in and it has been thoroughly shown and reviewed on Youtube.

I think developers should have to return money when they release a game in the condition RC was released in or be charged with fraud. No other industry gets away with releasing products that don't even function as promised to a huge degree but can take your money anyway......

Don't know if they have class or not but they exactly do that. This has actually been known for a long time.

This is not true.
I finished it.
Twice.

There are always urban legends. I'm not one of them. :)

I guess it's kind of like skyrim. People say it's buggy too yet in 400 hours I didn't run in to any significant bugs.:)

Lol i dont think that trailer is official, its pure crap

No, that's definitely Topware humor. In the 80ies, in Germany the melody was used for a successful german comedy Schlager song, called "An der Nordseeküste". This seems a reference to it.

Originally the melody is from the very old Irish folk song "The Wild Rover".

I know, but the nautical reference comes from Klaus & Klaus. And if you take a closer look at Topware games in general you can find several hints towards the 80ies.

It is free for anyone who bought the original.

Steam has a refund option now so I imagine devs wouldn't get away releasing unfinished crap nowadays without bitting the dust.

And you should always wait until there are myriad reviews of something before you buy it.

RC buggy as Skyrim? Riiiiiight.
I wouldn't dare to make a buglist for Skyrim. It'd be a lifetime work. It'd probably end in determining if there are more bugs than actual content in that game as it feels like that.

For RC I did a buglist without any problems and it's not, as suggested by gaming sites, unreal nor huge:

As you'll notice if you read all of it, the same corpse "dancing" bug from Skyrim is happening also in RC! And Skyrim isn't a broken mess, but RC is? Sure.

Interestingly enough, none of those gaming sites claiming Raven's Cry was utterly broken, actually made a list like this.
Those same gaming sites for example are still praising MGS5, the game that contains still unfixed bug that causes savegame corruption and you lose complete progress (there is only one savegame, once it's gone you're screwed!).

I can only suspect that all those gaming sites hated Hanging Willy song and slashed the game because of it but had to invent other reasons because it's silly to put 1/10 on a game because of a song.
If it's worth repeating, RC was not some nearmasterpiece material. I've said back then it's an above average game with pirate theme where gamespot and others' 1/10 was just not fair.

It is free for anyone who bought the original.
This is very important. If a game was paid for by anyone, that game gets a free upgrade. Owned or gifted, doesn't matter as long as someone paid for it.

Because apparently a crapload of working test keys for the original game were stolen and used on Steam. Those keys will not be upgraded for free.
Luckily for me, I kept my receit when I bought the game. :D

I must admit I was waiting for this one with much hope. Almost bought myself collector`s edition. Then I saw first impressions and none of them any good. Decided to wait. Game was released after much trouble nad delay. And got devastated reviews. Already seen it on sale for 50% of Steam price but I decided to wait till it hits some bundle. Maybe I will give it a chance on next Steam sale hoping for best

Oh, and as I understand they are giving this upgrade free for all owners of original game. same as Larian with Original Sin. On the other hand I saw today super definitive graphic-upgraded edition of Darksiders II and I will have to pay next 20+ EUR no matter I own all of the franchise already. Great move by new brand owner

UPDATE I just bought DII Definitive Edition for 6 EUR having 80% discount. Don`t know why yet - just 15 min ago it had 10% I think. Maybe its just for owners, maybe some mistake
