GameBanshee has kicked up their 20008 awards with Fallout 3 winning the ultimate spot and Diablo III taking out Most Anticipated. Fable II gets a couple of nods including story/writing and King's Bounty comes away with Best Hybrid.

I don't recall expectations being low for King's Bounty. Are you confusing that with lack of hype?

Well there are a number of hybrid games out now and most of them poor.

Other than KB the only exception so far is Puzzle Quest.

I can't think of a single RTS/RPG hybrid I like - games such as Spellforce, etc. Most of these have "elements". Kohan is popular in Russia but I don't know why.

I suppose you could categorize the Action RPG as a hybrid as there is very little role play in them, only stats with the chief focus on the arcade style action.

Well I finally picked Kings bounty CE for 38€. Not a bad deal for best game of the year.

Actually I think alot of people didn't expect much out of kings bounty, it was a pleasent surprise. If you want to call it hype then sure.
