Archaelund - RPGWatch Interview

I have to say that I have had more fun in the first two chapters of Archaelund than in 95% of the computer games I have played recently. When you combine amazing exploration with great tactical combat you have a winner on your hands. Great interview Corwin. I've had more fun playing it a second time with a new party than my first one. I think I'll have to gift Archaelund to a few more people. I haven't been this excited about a game since Battle Brothers and you all know how big a homer I'm for BB. :D

The first 2 chapters offer about 50 hours of gameplay and David believes that current save games will continue to be compatible as he releases new content, so there really is no reason to wait!! :)

The amount of hours of content is a non-factor for me. It's a story, and if it's not complete, it's not worth experiencing for me. If anything, more hours means more time invested on something that offers no closure. It does work better with some types of games, especially those centered about online play, but for me playing a single-player story-driven RPG before it's content complete is one of the best ways to ruin it for yourself.

Still very keen to see the game complete to buy it and play it then.

I remember playing "Exiled Kingdoms" many many years ago and it's probably one of the best rpgs ever made for cellphones. I have high expectation for this one I had already wishlisted many months ago :)

From reading the interview, I assume David (the dev) is reading this thread.
So @David, what you're doing as a solo developer is amazing. Making a game like this is such a huge task, and doing it (mostly) alone having these results is incredible. So hats off! :)

I'm interested in the game, but it remains to bee seen if it's something for me. I said it elsewhere, that with the years as a RPG gamer the fluff (story, characters etc.) got more and more important. Combat and exploration alone just don't do it for me anymore. I need some kind of emotional connection with the protagonist(s) to really immerse and enjoy a game. Of course then I still want to have interesting mechanics, challenging combat, and exploration.

I'll keep an eye out on this one.
