Are you ok with this "advanced access" ?

Gaming is a luxury. I'll be worried when you can pay "advanced access" to the supermarket to buy bread or milk.

I have a much bigger issue with Early Access, basically becoming a beta tester who pays to beta test, and people like to peg that as "supporting the studio" to feel good about themselves. At least in "advanced access" you get the full product and the choice of whether the price is worth to you or not. If you don't want to pay for advanced access, then don't.

Privileged first-world people having first-world problems is one of the most amusing topics on the internet.

Someone already said it about late stage capitalism were enough is never enough.

Just late stage capitalism and its quest to squeeze out every last drop of potential revenue. One could simply say "don't buy it" but that didn't work too well with the rise of "gotchas!"in various f2p game models, now did it.

Seriously though I wonder how people can easily accept companies taken advantage of consumers. Like I said already voting with my wallet wont matter it never does.

I wonder if Sakichop was part of the "Advanced Access" guild in World of Warcraft, which earnestly welcomed the players who joined the game 3 days later, at the standard release time for The War Within expansion.

Advanced access isn't being forced on people. It's just another option that's completely up to the buyer.

That's a good point: if you see someone swindling another, do you think

• 'the victim had the choice and screwed up', or
• 'that bastard took advantage of someone else's weakness', and possibly report it?

But I don't know if games have already been sold at a higher price only for the earlier access. If it's sold with other stuff like OST, game pass, design art, etc, I think it's not too bad; it's like a sort of ad for the other stuff ... and they can listen to the OST while they wait for the day-one patch . I have the impression that's how it's been sold so far.

PS: To come back to the morale dilemma, as you said, voting with our wallets won't make a difference as long as many others go for it. I'm dutifully boycotting every Denuvo game, and boy, I can already feel the pain I've caused to that company.

Day 1 would be the day that the game first becomes available (the "advanced access" launch day). No sane company would offer a premium early access period and reward buyers with a shittier product that was going to be fixed 4 days later.

So I guess Ubisoft is not sane.

It doesn't affect them as the usual millions of game junkies just don't care.

They just want to play the latest games no matter the loopholes.

I started my game on the 27th. No way in hell I'm starting over. I've had two crashes and some quest dialogue repeated once, but no major issues.

I'm fine with it. I never cared that other people get first crack at a game, it just is foreign to my mindset, to care about trivial stuff like that.

Plus, I often am last to play games, since I like to buy games after they are on deep sales with all patches and polish completed. "Complete editions" are usually a great deal a lot of the time.

Doesn't bother me but if you have money to throw away why not donate to a decent charity ? Oh i guess they rather brag about early access to a game (something which seems pretty petty) than actually donate to whatever. Oh well it is their money they can spend it as they please but the more that do so the more often this will happen.

I've done it several times because A - I am impatient (like Alrik said), but more importantly B - I'm not paying any extra money for the game, I'm buying the DLC, which also happens to unlock the game early. That was the case for Starfield, and that was the case for Outlaws.

What holds value is personal preference. There are a lot of people who would say gaming at all is a waste of money.

Gaming is a waste of money, you should donate that money instead. movies and music are a waste of money, you should donate it instead. Eating out is a waste of money, you should donate the money instead, etc, etc.

Most people work hard for their money and should spend it however they want.
