Couchpotato spotted an Atomfall review on Gaming Respawn:

Atomfall Review

Straight off the bat, I will say Atomfall is one of those games that some will be die-hard fans of, and some will hate it with a passion.

Billed as Fallout but set in England, Atomfall tries to do something different. It succeeds in many ways but really falls short in others.

At its heart, Rebellion has crafted a truly fascinating world, and the story’s structure lends itself to wanting to know more about what happened to its residents and where you stand in all of this.

Before I delve deep into each section, I want to get across that this is a game every Xbox Game Pass owner should give a go and see if it scratches that Fallout-RPG-style itch for you.

[...]

Conclusion
Overall, Atomfall is a breath of fresh air in the modern gaming space. What the game lacks in polish and riveting gameplay, it makes up for with an interesting story that really is what you make of it.

This approach to storytelling also makes this game insanely replayable as it has six possible endings.

If you do have Xbox and Game Pass, as I said near the beginning of this review, you should download Atomfall immediately and see if you like it. It will be one of the more unique experiences you have this year. If you are on other platforms and on the fence, wait for it to hit around £30 and give it a go.
More information.

100% agree. I had to put it down and uninstall it because of the respawning mobs. Just totally killed any interest in it whatsoever. So hopefully once they fix/remove that, it'll be wonderful. Right now as it stands there's zero point in combat whatsoever. You don't get xp for kills, and they badguys all respawn no matter what, so it's best to just ignore everyone and forrest gump run through every area picking up whatever goodies and just run away out of there. Sucks.

Let's not get carried away here. The enemies only respawn on loading a save or returning to a different map. It's not like they're spontaneously respawning. Hopefully the first patch will fix the loading bug.

Regardless, I thought it was great. One of the best post-apoc games I've played. There's so much C&C, it's almost overwhelming.

They ARE spontaneously respawning though. I was inside the interchange, wiped out a camp, went into a different room of the interchange ... NOT a different loaded area at all! Still inside the interchange, then went back to that camp area, every single enemy was respawned and wanted to kill me. And I was now low on ammo and bandages.

Plus, even without that bug, the game's entire story revolves on you going in and out of the interchange routinely, therefore respawning all the bad guys in all the camps every time you do so. That's beyond frustrating.

I never had that happen in over 50 hours of playtime, but ok. I doubt it was the same group of enemies. Either that, or you did enter/exit an area and didn't realize it or forgot.

I just spent 5 seconds and found those two threads on the steam discussions. I know there are lots more because a while back I spent time looking up what was going on. But it doesn't matter, you can see the randomly spontaneously respawning enemies, even during combat, on a save game load, inside the interchange, inside camps, etc... is DEFINITELY happening to people.

If you had a nice and smooth experience without this bug, that's great! I REALLY wish I would have, I think I'd still be playing now. But the bug is there for sure.

It literally says "Respawn on reload".

A few people claim they had enemies respawn, but the vast majority are talking about after a reload. I find it hard to believe that I could play 50 hours and not see that happen a single time.

I'd be willing to bet most of those people are talking about enemies that spawned because they crossed into a different cell and didn't realize it.

I was reticent to post that first post with the single real issue the game has. I figured there'd be a 90% chance of people who don't really want to play in the first place gravitating towards it and using it as post fodder for affirmation on why they don't want to play. For the rest of us, if you are into immersive sims, this game is one of the best in years.

I'm waiting for a bit more patching but this looks like the kind of game I wish came along more often. I hope they do well.
