EA allows smaller studios to get funds to keep developing their games, but it also increases the development time. That in itself is not bad, not having to rush for a deadline.

I'll wait for the full release. I'm not willing to pay to help develop an incomplete game. By the time it's released, I'd be tired of the game, while never playing the best version of it. Not worth it for me.

That's why I generally fund EA games that look promising, but then don't touch it at all until it's finished.

That is a good strategy!

However, it wouldn't work for me, since I never believe that a game is promising, until I have read reviews of the final game.

There was only one exception for me: Grim Dawn. In that case I believed that it would be promising, because I heard that is was the spiritual successor of Titan Quest and I liked that game. In that case they even avoided the problem mentioned by @Gwendo: They released the game area for area and quest for quest. So the released parts were fully playable and you could continue the same playthrough as soon as new areas or quests were added. You didn't repeatedly play incomplete versions but one version that got bigger and bigger. That was great! I wish, more developers would do it that way.

In general I would do an early funding (may it be early access or another way of funding) only for very beloved studios. If, for example, the original people behind Piranha Bytes would seek funding, I would do that immediately.
