Chronicles of Vaeltaja is crpg in development by one man indie company Witchgrove Games. It takes you back to the golden era of pc-gaming when classics like Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Ultima and Lands of Lore ruled the world and home computers like Amiga and Atari ST were still alive. This first-person adventure-rpg is made with RPG Maker MZ enhanced with bunch of great plugins like Cutievirus' MZ3D which takes RPG Maker to a whole new level. For now you can follow the development in Dungeoncrawlers.org discord server's dev-games section (link can be found from here: https://dungeoncrawlers.org/)

Chronicles of Vaeltaja: In Search of the Great Wanderer takes you to the kingdom of Twin Falls where strange menace is threatening the land that once lived in tranquil. You are hired by the King Menekses I to investigate strange occurrences in seaside town of Pramea where children have been disappearing and travellers are under constant attacks from bandits and beasts that shouldn't even roam there. Your job is to gather a party and find out who or what is behind this new threat.

The game's world and dungeons are hand-crafted from the ground with pre-made and custom assets, so there is no procedural generation. It aims to be one of the deepest and best looking games ever created with RPG Makers.

So ready your weapons and wits to take on a memorable journey across vast forests, fields, swamps and dungeons to bring peace back to Twin Falls.

Celebrating Friday with quick visit to seaside town of Pramea. There's a way to make it sunny and bright again. Are you up for the challenge?

"Generations ago there was a king named Kearron I who was betrayed by his younger brother Kaelin and left to die in the wilderness. Kaelin crowned himself the king unaware that his brother was still alive. Wounded Kearron was found by a powerful witch named Leurena who healed his wounds. Angered by his brother’s betrayal he made a pact with the witch and promised that if she would help him to avenge his brother’s betrayal, he would claim back his crown and make Leurena her queen.

Kearron then started to spread a rumour that he was still alive and had gathered an army to take back his throne. He managed to lure Kaelin and his army to the very same place where he was once left to die. When Kaelin and his army arrived, Leurena cast a powerful spell which turned the deceitful king and his whole army into trees. This is how the Marsh of the Condemned was born."

I made a new video earlier than I thought, but I've been planning to make this for some time now: The Old Tower gameplay, which showcases one of the early optional dungeons.

It's refreshing to see something unique with RPG maker. And less time with engine and mechanics means more time with game design. Looking forward to seeing more!

Now this is the video you've been waiting for, even though you didn't knew it! I give you a quick tour to three re-textured locations of Twin Falls Kingdom: Pramea, The Great Forest and Twin Falls Fields. So (maybe) nothing you haven't seen before, but this time they look much more detailed and different. I hope you enjoy!

*cough* Does it have automapping ? Or do I have to draw it all by myself ? *cough*
I feel a little bit ashamed, but I really got easily lost within ye olde games (I did try the Eye Of The Beholder series !), so that was what always turned me off ... I'm sorry, some like that as a challence, I acknowledge that, but not me.

I'm not sure about automap yet, but there might be some sort of map system. I've tried to build overworld areas so that they're easy to navigate: there's roads and paths that help to find the essential plot locations. Dungeons are trickier to navigate, but I'm thinking about something to help those who get easily lost and don't want to draw maps.
