Elder Scrolls 6 can wait, as two classic Bethesda RPGs land on PC - PCGamesN
Elder Scrolls 6 is a long way off and we’re still waiting on a Starfield release date, but meanwhile, two classic Bethesda RPGs are on PC via Xbox Insiders
Why Fable is More Important Than Elder Scrolls 6 or Avowed - Gamerant
Microsoft's Xbox-exclusive release schedule is looking a bit dry right now. With the delay of Starfield into 2023, there doesn't seem to be many exclusives coming for the console right now. Depending on when its release falls, the next major Xbox Series releases may be Minecraft Legends or Forza Motorsport in 2023, which is not ideal. Despite a strong showing at the Summer Game Fest, Microsoft, Bethesda, and their various other acquired studios all seem to be either supporting old games or working on distant projects.
Elden Ring, Monster Hunter, and the end of my affair with health bars - RPS
Of course, the health bar isn't a feature exclusive to Elden Ring – I get that. But it's something that I've become much more aware of since I've bounced between Monster Hunter Rise and the Lands Between. In the thick of battle, I'm not only ducking and weaving between some claws, I'm also gleaning info from a horizontal strip of red. At the most basic level, it tells me how much pain I'm dishing out with every blow, but beyond this it's also a timer that doesn't tick down unless I act upon it; a reminder that if I'm to emerge the victor, I've got to punch the hourglass and get that sand to budge.
Starfield: 6 Things It Should Take From Other Bethesda Games - Gamerant
Starfieldaims to be a unique entry in Bethesda's line of RPGs, taking to the stars with a captivating universe driven by science fiction. It has taken great strides to distinguish itself and triumph as a franchise all on its own, yet there must be a balance in doing so. While it should strive to individualize itself, Starfield should not be afraid to take inspiration from other Bethesda games, chiefly from The Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises. There is much to learn from these phenomenal RPG titles that achieved significant, deserved success over the years.
'KOTOR' Remake Isn't Looking Good - Cracked
The balance is once again restored as just a week after we got the cool news that the Star Wars The Old Republic MMO was attempting a serious comeback, we're learning that the much more anticipated remake of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic is being frozen in carbonite. We're aware that all properties under BioWare have been cursed for a while, but the KOTOR remake wasn't even being held by them. The reins of the project belong to Aspyr, a company known mostly for mobile ports that's seemingly based on the planet Mustafar because its offices have been trying to put out fires for the entire duration of the project.

GamingBolt's 10 Things We Want in Witcher

Its been officially confirmed that work on the next Witcher (which we're going to refer to as The Witcher 4, for the sake of our convenience) is underway. Of course, the game only recently entered development and still has a long, long way to go before it's even announced, much less released, but as is the case with every other series fan out there, we have a wish list of things that we want from the game.

Grounded Is Getting A Full Launch In September - COGC
Grounded has been an Early Access game since 2020. Still, this has not stopped it from getting some serious success in the gaming market. In fact, it had 10 million players just this February. This is a big number of fans who are waiting for the game’s full release.

Thankfully, devs have finally confirmed when that is happening. Devs have confirmed that Grounded’s 1.0 release date will be on September 27th. Adam Brennecke, who is the game’s game director, officially shared the news to the gaming public on social media. The news coincides with the game’s two year anniversary.
Fallout 5 is Yet Another Game Bethesda Has Confirmed Too Soon - Gamerant
Bethesda is known for a few key franchises that have become cornerstones in gaming. This includes The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Due to the popularity of Bethesda's franchises, gamers always eagerly await the next release from the studio. Unfortunately, the wait is usually long, because the games are vast and take quite a bit of time to make. This is understandable, though the problem is exacerbated by Bethesda's tendency to announce its games earlier than necessary, and Fallout 5 is the latest example of this.
New Hogwarts Legacy Video Has a Surprise for Hufflepuff Fans - Comicbook
A new Hogwarts Legacy video has a small surprise for Hufflepuff fans. The new Harry Potter is one of the most anticipated games in gaming. In fact, there's room to argue it's one of the most anticipated games of all time. Right now, the most watched game trailer on the PlayStation YouTube page of all time is the Hogwarts Legacy reveal trailer. This doesn't mean the game is going to warrant the hype, but it confirms there are many, at the very least, interested in the Harry Potter game. With this level of excitement, every little reveal and piece of media becomes notable, especially during a media and information drought. While the game is still slated to release this year, WB Games and Avalanche Software have actually been quite quiet recently

Elex 2: Things I Miss From Elex 1

I've enjoyed playing Elex 2 and it has some critical improvements to offer over Elex 1, however, there are still some things that I miss from Elex 1 which either didn't make their way into the sequel, or whose effects were lessened in the sequel. I'm not trying to bash Elex 2 or say it's a worse game than the first one, and this is not meant to be a comprehensive review, critique, or evaluation of Elex 2; it's just some casual ramblings about smaller, more specific things that came to mind while playing.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Pasqal Haneumann - Owlcat

Rogue Traders may be brave explorers of systems beyond the Imperium, but the privilege of pioneering uncharted space is not theirs alone. On their hunt for the mysteries of the universe, they are accompanied by the enormous fleets of the Explorators, which consist of countless battleships and research vessels steered by the Tech-Priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus. This religious organisation of scientists, engineers, soldiers, and artisans worships the Machine God, also known as the Omnissiah, and keeps the sacred mysteries of technology gifted by Him. Everything in the Imperium, from a common soldier's lasgun to the divine and deadly walking Titans, was crafted by the Adeptus Mechanicus. As they rule over thousands of forge worlds that supply Humanity with the tools to survive in an inhospitable universe, the scarlet-robed Tech-Priests' advance fleets explore the Imperium's outer limits: that is the mission of Explorators, who travel to the depths of the void to reclaim the gifts of the ancients, uncover long-buried secrets, and bring sacred Knowledge back from oblivion.

I do look at this thread from time to time, but I've always thought it's a bit of a shame not to have this news as part of the normal newsposting, when the site is structured around having separate threads discussing each newsbit. Sometimes feels like there's almost too much news in one megathread, and conversations don't really get going.

I wonder if it's time for Couch to return as a regular news poster?

I think it was more or less planned.

I'm looking at it regularly but I may skip it for a couple of days if I don't have much time. There's a lot and it's not really meant for comments, so I tend to look at the "official" news first.

I think both are complementary, there's not too much overlap.

EDIT: bit of personal preference, games here are sometimes more my cup of tea

Well, I like the megathread structure. If I miss few days of news I open this and I will be put right at the last item I have read, from there I can scroll for the new elements.

The News Watch has never been at least for me a consistent source of news since it's either just titles or a nearly endless scroll of items I never bother to scroll for long. So if because of RL I missed few days of news, they are really lost for me.

I also like the pick of news bits done by Mr Potato as well as the text length accompanying each item.

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem - Monthly Development Update
We would like to give you a quick update about the upcoming Controller Supportpatch and a little bonus tease about upcoming content. We are in the very last polishing phase and will be able to deliver a whole new way of playing Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem very soon. Play the game with either a Controller or a Mouse & Keyboard whilst benefiting from the almost entirely overhauled in-game UI and the Quality of Life additions we will be shipping with this patch.

Outside of the Controller Support team, our other teams have been busily working on new story content for Wolcen, and we are now deep into production of a new Chapter. We hope to share details with you soon, but, for the moment, we can say that Chapter 4has been uniquely designed for replayability and will offer something for players who value narrative and players who value endgame.

The LOD has been reworked, and now has more models and details, but at the same time, it guarantees you more quality! Distant houses, trees, advertisements, vegetation, can now be seen from a distance. High polygon count lod models guarantee a longer render time than the vanilla game, and textures are bigger in size to give more quality graphics.

Hard West II Preview & Interview

Rock Paper Shotgun
A classic cowboy heist, in other words, and one I can't wait to try and inevitably fail at myself when Hard West 2 launches in little over a week - and if you missed the closed beta back in May, then make sure you give this week's pre-launch demo a try, which lets you play the first chapter of the game for free from July 28th to August 1st.
GodisaGeek
Following on from my recent hands-on preview of Hard West 2, I got to join a live playthrough with a couple of key members of the Ice Code Games dev team. Via the wonders of Discord I jumped in with Mateusz Pilski, Chief Technology Officer, and Grzegorz Ziemba, Lead Producer, to watch the masters at work (sort of), and even got to ask a few questions.

Guild Wars 3 in Unreal Engine 5 May be in the Works? - PCGamesN

Diablo Immortal is doing great Despite Heavy Criticism - Nation World News
Diablo Immortal received severe criticism after launch and was bombarded with shoddy reviews. Still, the game is doing very well financially, and with a delayed launch in China, it has grown its player base by a third.

This is the status of Diablo Immortal: Since its launch on June 2, Blizzard’s new game has faced negative reactions and review bombings from fans.

Above all, Cash Shop and Diablo Immortal’s monetization were criticized, which is particularly strong in the endgame Pay2Win and uses psychological tricks to extort money from players’ pockets.

However, the negativity didn’t change the fact that the A-RPG turned out to be very successful. Sales of $10 million were reported just a week after launch, and the number continued to grow.
