I'm weird, yes, but I suddebnly thought : "I wish a news site would do an article about what PC games are published physically at all ..." Because, as I once posted in "A Thought", I noticed that I tend to very quickly forget games which I do not see physically anymore ... The German language even has a proverb for this : "Aus dem Auge, aus dem Sinn" - "Out of eye, out of sense".

Can't remember the last time I bought a physical box PC game, and it looks like consoles are going the PC route in the future. Still have a ton of older boxed games.

Which is getting harder to play as most PCs don't have a DVD anymore.

Well these days it is pointless as the physical box usually just contains a game key; or if it does contain a disk frequently the disk is pointless without the game key - there was some game i purchased a box for a long time ago - i think it was one of the stardock games and i discovered the disk was useless - by the time i received the box version they had scrapped the original version and completely redone it. I think someone - maybe larian - will actually sell a disk with the final version after all major patches and i guess that is more useful esp if it is not tied on to on line game service like steam. But i don't know if they still do that. These days most people who bother with a disk version just want 'bragging' rights - who they brag to i don't know since I find it a waste of money and silly (of course i think the same thing of digital prepurchase for a shiny sword or whatever stupid trinket they sometime throw in). I mean why the (pardon my language) would you not want to wait to see if the game is playable before you buy it ?

"Aus dem Auge, aus dem Sinn" - "Out of eye, out of sense".
I think it's 'Out of sight, out of mind'. And in French, it's literally 'Far from the eye, far from the heart' - always the romantics. ;)

I suppose it's still possible to buy boxes for some games, maybe more often for Playstation than PC. They'd be empty, but you can still put them on a shelf. Some games also have physical goods with their more expensive editions, so you can keep on your desk or expose somewhere. And some games have books on them; for example, Future Press makes very good quality guides. But the video games in general have moved on to electronic distribution years ago, so a list of the games that can be bought 'physically' - just a key, as @notdart said - wouldn't be very representative of the interesting games. I bet you'd be reminded of AAA games, mostly.

If that's any consolation, you can look at your games in Steam, Galaxy, etc., or you can keep screenshots or photo mode renderings. In that spirit, I like Steam's Year in Review, which shows little infographics of the games played the last years (I think it starts in 2022).

Aside from the fundamentals of combat, Enotria: The Last Song really tries to step outside of the box when it comes to dressing up the standard soulslike. The sun-drenched environments and wild, Italian folklore-inspired character designs are a real breath of fresh air straight from Italy’s Alps. Combat is fun, even when the difficulty spikes unexpectedly and despite the bloat of many, many systems that govern all of the more nuanced abilities and stats. The unapproachability of its RPG systems, and the wonky performance when a smooth frame rate matters the most are what really prevent Enotria from taking center stage.

Due to the limitations of home computers and game consoles, for years true 3d rendering was mostly out of reach for developers. However, by applying an isometric projection, a fake or pseudo 3D effect can provide a 3d like experience to the game. Isometric views in video games have existed around in video games since the early 80s. And during the late 90s, PC resolutions were large enough and CPUs were becoming powerful enough where developers could pre-render 3d models and combine them with an isometric view to produce beautifully realistic looking environments. In todays episode we deep dive into the world of Isometric graphics in video games.
