Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Developer Blog - Road to Gamescom 2018

Link - https://steamcommunity.com/games/261550/announcements/detail/1688174556377621777
Gamescom is just around the corner and we are sure that many of you are eager to hear about what we will be showing at the event. Instead of stringing you along and leaving it as a surprise, we thought we would take a different approach this year by being upfront with you about what we will be presenting in Cologne.

As most of you will already know, at last year’s event we took a hands-on multiplayer demo to Gamescom that allowed guests to dive in and experience one of our new multiplayer game modes: Captain Mode. The event was a huge success and it was great to be able to show people what we were working on and the progress we had made with the game. However, multiplayer is just one aspect of Bannerlord and our community was left in the dark as to how things were progressing with the singleplayer part of the game (which many people would consider to be the main draw). If you are one of the people that fall into this category, then we are pleased to tell you that is exactly what we will be showing at this year’s Gamescom!

Link - https://www.gamewatcher.com/news/phantom-doctrine-patch-1-0-2-is-now-out
It's no secret that Phantom Doctrine has its own set of issues, and ones that might make the game completely unplayable for some. Regardless, the game also has a certain special sort of charm, and the developers don't seem to be giving up on it, either.

Two days after official release, Phantom Doctrine already has two hotfixes under its belt with lots more to come, and here we'll take you on a short tour of the latest one: Patch 1.0.2.
Say farewell to Steam

Phantom Doctrine's Preliminary Patch Notes for Upcoming Two Updates [LOS/LOF]

Link: https://steamcommunity.com/games/559100/announcements/detail/1689300456297308735

Due to the balance implications, we're conducting additional tests of the Line of Sight system improvements. They also require modifications to the animation tree. Because of that, we'll publish the improvements in two stages. First the disabling of sidesteps for targets not in full cover (free sidesteps), then additional clarifications of LOS / LOF situations.

The first of the patches is expected during the weekend and should address a majority of the most confusing LOS situations. The second patch will require more work to bring it to the quality and stability we require so we expect it on Wednesday.

Child of Light was really good (imho). I purchased it without realizing it was an ubi game (I don't buy ubi games); but i might just buy child of light 2 if it is as good as child of light.

It was the very first game which sold boxes containing nothing but air.

I mean, selling boxes for "download only" ???

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Interview

Link - https://www.vg247.com/2018/08/13/world-of-warcraft-battle-for-azeroth-last-expansion/
World of Warcraft has had its fair share of ups and downs since launching back in 2004. Just under a decade and a half later, however, and the title’s still chugging along – as strong as it’s ever been, thanks to the breath of fresh air that came with Legion.
So it turns out Jagged Alliance: Rage is not-terrible

Link - https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/08/16/jagged-alliance-rage-details/
Y’know what? I don’t hate it. Which, after 19 years of hurt (the remarkable JA2 mod scene aside), is happy progress for once-beloved turn-based mercenary combat series Jagged Alliance.

There’s a whole mess of things wrong with newly-announced latest comeback-apparent Jagged Alliance: Rage, but a few hours with early code has me thinking there’s a lot right with its core.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update Scheduled for Gamescom

Well, Gamescom 2018 just got infinitely more exciting. A Tweet, published a few minutes ago, has revealed that CD Projekt Red will be providing a Cyberpunk 2077 update tomorrow at some point during day one of this year’s show.

No new images or trailers accompany the post. However, simply knowing we’re mere hours away from another potentially revelatory reveal has got our hype metres going berserk.
Shenmue I & II Reviews

Link - https://www.gamereactor.eu/reviews/687573/Shenmue I II/
It's still hard to recommend Shenmue I & II to modern players with no connection to the franchise or appreciation for older 3D titles. It may simply be too chewy to really enjoy unless you've got a certain appreciation for the games of the early 3D era, but if you do have an appreciation for this period, and for Japan, Hong Kong, and the cultures you'll get a glimpse of as you guide Ryo Hazuki on his journey of discovery and revenge, then Shenmue I & II can most certainly be recommended. It's a piece of video game history that's worth digging into. You'll see.
Link - https://www.gamewatcher.com/reviews/shenmue-1-2-review/13054
If you've never played the Shenmue series, there's truly no excuse now to dip your feet into its world. Even to the arcade-hardened consumer who cares less about a narrative, these games still show off what good open worlds can be. Many modern sandboxes rope in players with their size, but only deliver environments that are shallow or forgettable. Shenmue sidesteps this problem with grace, putting copycats to shame. Even if you don't intend to purchase the re-release and opt for original hardware, play these games before you die.

Grim Misadventures is here, and this one is all about promises, or oaths, and keeping them.

Last time, we delved into haunting memories of the Korvan people. Some of them, bound by their oaths, stand to this day, defending cities and tombs as if those they swore to protect remained.

Today, we are going to look at another group of individuals for whom oaths are the foundation of purpose. For these warriors, priests, conquerors…oaths drive every action, every decision, for they are bound to the will of the gods, and through them the gods execute their celestial judgment.

Why No Assassin's Creed in 2019 Makes Sense for Ubisoft

Link - https://www.usgamer.net/articles/why-no-assassins-creed-in-2019-makes-sense-for-ubisoft
When Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed was no longer going to be an annual franchise, some folks breathed a sigh of relief. After some missteps, the series needed some time off to find its focus and for more casual fans of the franchise, trying to get through one huge historical journey each year was difficult. The break paid off with the excellent Assassin's Creed Origins, which is why some groaned when Ubisoft announced Assassin's Creed Odyssey for release a year later. Was Assassin's Creed back to an annual cadence already, they wondered?
