15 years ago an FPS flop saved a dying Shadowrun Cyberpunk Universe - Inverse
Everyone loves a comeback story, but no one wants to hit rock bottom. The same is true for our beloved franchises. It's painful when your favorite series takes a hard turn on a bad idea, but feels oh-so-sweet when it recovers. Looking back, you can see the bottom for what it is and appreciate the context it provides. What does a rock bottom in gaming look like?

15 years ago, Shadowrun was released for the Xbox 360. Developing it as a multiplayer-only FPS game was an extremely unpopular move at the time, especially for a franchise that began as a riveting cyberpunk RPG. The reviews were average at best, and fans of the tabletop source material fans were crestfallen. So where do you go when you're at rock bottom? Back to your roots.

C4G Outward Definitive Edition Preview

WolfheartFPS V Rising Early Access Co-op Gameplay

Which Character Class Should You Pick In Tiny Tina's Wonderlands?

As we've come to expect from the Borderlands team, the franchise's first major spin-off is an exciting tonal deviation for the long-running looter shooter.
Why you should play Cyberpunk 2077 in 2022 - Xfire
Now, hear us out - this doesn't excuse CD Projekt RED in any way. The 2020 title is still the poster boy for overhyped games that underdelivered. You know how bad and buggy your game is when it scares Bethesda Softworks enough to delay its first new IP in years because it didn't want to suffer the same fate. But, you have to give CDPR props - it navigated a PR disaster and is starting to earn back the trust of fans.

Outward: Definitive Edition Available - Steam

I'm very curious as to whether they bothered to fix co-op in Outward. In the original version, one character is basically an NPC companion to whoever hosts the game. Co-op was just tacked on but they bragged about it as main feature. It is horrible and I loved Outward in SP.

Also in-case you need to buy and re-play Skyrim once again.

Skyrim Anniversary Edition Has Been Rated for Nintendo Switch - wccftech
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition could be coming soon to the Nintendo Switch. The Taiwanese rating board appears to have rated the game; the rating was then removed, but not before the website Switch Brasil grabbed the below screenshot.
We'll probably never play ES6 till 2030.

With the delay of Starfeild I probably have to agree.

Someone mentioned on our discord thread about this topic.

I responded giving their IPs to other Microsoft studious will solve the issue. Imagine playing more Fallout's, Elder Scroll spinoffs and remasters. I'd definitely buy them.

Hmm…I can already see myself re-playing Fallout 1 and 2 in the Wasteland 3 engine.

RPG Tropes That Need To Disappear -

I just wish game developers would transcend the genre.

But then, probably nobody would buy these games, as RPG players are EXTREMELY conservative. Apart from newer generations, maybe.

The woirst thing that has to be transcended, though, is to me, that EVERY RPG game is essentially a fighting simulator. It's as if "character development" was "meant to be" permanently glued to killing everything. Which is totally against Real Life character development.

Archmage Rises - Managing an Indie Game Dev Project

Last summer we took on a game dev contract to help finance the game. Plan was it would be half on Archmage and half on client work. This quickly expanded to everyone on contract. Then we had to hire more people. There are big risks to companies, most fail, because they grew too fast. I think we've done it well but only time will tell.

Average RPGs with Great Endings - TheGamer
Most RPGs fall in the middle of this quality spectrum, and while these average RPGs have their flaws, that doesn't make them less worth playing. Though either buggy or unremarkable, these RPGs shine when it comes to their stories, especially in their explosive endings.
Interview with Senior Writer Olga Moskvina - Digimancy
Could you please share with us what your writing process looks like? And what are some of the things that you do to keep yourself growing and evolving as a writer?

My writing process really depends on the task and expectations. Something people may not think about when they imagine a day in the life of a video game writer is how much time one spends on documentation, as opposed to dialogue and other in-game text. Creating worldbuilding documents requires a lot of ideation and research, so that's where one starts—and hopefully doesn't get stuck for too long. Writing dialogue is another beast entirely, and there's also variation depending on what the goals are, how much direction one was given, whether it's a location description, object interaction, or conversation with an NPC. For locations, I may start by visualizing the place as the PC would experience it on arrival, really imagining myself there physically—sights, sounds, smells. For NPCs, I have to figure out the voice first, hear it in my head.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister - FUTURE DLC SURVEY: WHAT'S NEXT?
It's been a year since Solasta 1.0 launched on Steam, and what a great year it was! From adding the Sorcerer, Barbarian, Druid & Half-Orc, to increasing the level cap from 10 to 12, to adding Quests, Dialogs, Monsters & Items Editors in the Dungeon Maker, to releasing a full new campaign with Lost Valley.

But we're not done quite yet! And that's why as we've always done in the past, we want to hear your opinion to make sure we're creating the game both with you and for you, so take the short survey now!

And don't worry - we are and will always be fixing bugs when we can, even if we're working on larger updates or DLCs!
How Starfield Could Adopt Bethesda's Open-World Formula - Gamerant
Based on recent trailers and teasers, Starfield appears to be a game focused on exploration. The Settled Systems is a huge expanse of space with plenty of factions both friendly and hostile residing within it. Moreover, the player character is a member of Constellation, an organization devoted to solving the mysteries of the solar system. As such, players will likely explore the uncharted reaches of the Settled Systems in hopes of uncovering its secrets.

This all sets the expectation that Starfield's open world will be huge, with plenty of interesting landmarks and locations to discover. In doing this, the game can take notes from Bethesda's open-world formula.
Dragon's Dogma 10th ASnniversary Website raises a lot of Questions - PCGamer
What's less clear is why Capcom would put so much effort into celebrating a mostly dormant series. There was a Dragon's Dogma MMO that never came west, and an anime (opens in new tab) that wrapped up in late 2020, but otherwise there's been nothing.

Alaloth: Champions of The Four Kingdoms - A new trailer and more on the way!
As you probably noticed, we just refreshed our Steam page a bit, uploading a bunch of new in-game shots from the latest build we delivered in the morning. Shots come along with a brand new key art, showing a new Alaloth too: he wears a mask now and it's way more lethal than before! We had a rework of the boss here time ago and we were planning to share this since a long time. This is just one of the many things we've iterated on the way, both tech & lore related. As we said recently, there is so much stuff to show after the long silencethat we literally spent last weeks trying to figure out the best scenario to send out everything with a ratio, while dealing with all the biz-related stuff that is directly connected with the release of the game. Well, we can say that despite the fact that we had to squeeze in just a couple of weeks, work usually done in months,we have finally an idea of the next stepsthat we'll bring us to the day in which we are going to pushthe green button. The plan is not complete 100% but hey, the path is set and it's like fresh air for us.

We'll Make Your Gun Shiny For Only a Hundred Bucks - Jeff Vogel
I am old and slow, and the games industry moves very quickly. Thus a new trend can easily take over the entire industry for years without my even noticing. Then I find out about it and get shocked and startled and everyone justifiably mocks me.

While I was recently chatting on Discord with some young gamer friends (I'm not entirely out of it), they got really excited about something. Turns out, a new set of guns were about to be released for the shooty-game Valorant. These new guns will have fish on them.
Crafting the flora of Broken Roads - Games Website
Our VFX and Technical Artist, Ryan Gee, does a lot of work to breathe life into our representations of Western Australia. In this blog, he discusses differences in vegetation from one end of the Wheatbelt to the other, how he created a tool to paint the correct biomes and unique wind patterns onto existing levels, and how he uses a "non-destructive" workflow to make collaboration between departments as easy as hitting "regenerate".
Queen's Wish 2 May Update - Kickstarter
Greetings, backers! Just a quick update to let you know where we are with your game and rewards!

The story of the game is done! We’re only a few days from the game being actually complete. We’ll be testing and tweaking it for a couple months before release in (most likely) August. It’s great news to be this close to the end of the journey, though configuring everything for a game release is a daunting job. Lots of online stores to configure and lots of tricky problems to solve. We’re not expecting any delays, though.

We have sent out the first set of backer surveys. If your reward tier included your name in the credits or you ordered a map or certificate, you should have received an email. If you haven’t, check your spam filter. If you ordered a physical object, we need your address. If you’re in the credits, we want to make sure you’re listed the way you want to be listed.

We are getting close to being able to start beta testing for high end backers. We are also putting together a demo for Steam Next Fest in June. Showing our game to so many new people is exciting but kind of scary. We hope you like it!

That is all for May. Thank you again for your support, and we’ll have an actual playable game in your hands soon. Enjoy a brand new screenshot below.
