In a new interview with Japanese site 4Gamer, Miyazaki was asked about a previous comment he had made in a 2018 interview about having multiple games in development. Asked if one of those games was still on the way, Miyazki confirmed: "Yes, it is. We are in the final stages of development."

Why Final Fantasy moved away from command and turn-based combat-Gamesradar
GamesRadar+ recently spoke with Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida, and he had a clear message for those of you longing for a return to command-based combat. "I understand that there are a lot of fans out there that do wish for a return to the turn-based battle system but and it pains me to say this I'm really sorry that we're not going to be doing that for this iteration of the series. As someone who was raised on turn-based, command-based role-playing games, I fully understand their appeal and understand what's great about them. "But" There is, of course, a but.

7 Reasons Starfield is going to be GREAT!!!

The Starfield gameplay reveal has proven to be pretty divisive. And while I agree with some of the criticism, I do think this new game from Bethesda Game Studios is looking pretty great. So here are 7 reasons I think you should be excited for Starfield, one of the most anticipated sci-fi RPGs in years.
A Plague Tale: Requiem - Hands On Impressions

Jean-Luc had the chance to check out the Tribeca demo for A Plague Tale: Requiem. While a lot of the new gameplay additions feel familiar, the story seems to be moving in an interesting direction. The group comes together to talk about his hands on impressions of A Plague Tale: Requiem.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Nintendo Direct Full Presentation

Check out the full presentation for Xenoblade Chronicles 3. You'll learn more about the world, its characters (Noah, Eunie, Lanz, Mio, Taion, and Sena) and what to expect. Additionally get a look at a new trailer for the game as well.
Monomyth Beta Details Update - Kickstarter
You are probably wondering where your beta invitation is. Unfortunately, there will be a slight delay of a few days. There are still a couple of things I would like to fix before getting the first test version into the hands of backers. Perhaps a few details about the beta content itself.

In this Steam Summer Sale 2022: Top RPGs, Soulslikes, Metroidvanias, And Survival Games To Buy special, I’m going to cover the best deals for old and new outstanding games that continue to have a huge impact on the community at large, for months or even years after their releases.
Digimancy Entertainment - June 2022 Company Update
It’s 2022… two and a half years after Digimancy first came into being… and I probably should have written something like this sooner.

Since this is our first news update for Digimancy Entertainment, I thought I’d talk about the origins of the studio and what our team is trying to build.

The seeds for what would become Digimancy Entertainment were planted back in 2017. At the time, I had been in the games industry for about sixteen years and had gotten to know Kevin Saunders while working together on Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer and again on Torment: Tides of Numenera. We were joined on Torment by our fellow co-founder, Steve Dobos, who was Torment’s lead engineer and had worked with Kevin years before.

Footage Shows Main Quest Cut Content From Fallout 3 - Exputer

In a large appendix of RPG titles, Fallout 3 is considered one of the better Fallout games. Only second to Fallout: New Vegas, it is a very beloved game in the community. Even Bethesda knows that Fallout 3 would have been a hit. this made the number of revisions that the game received at an all-time high.

Recently, a channel on YouTube, TriangleCity, uploaded a new video showcasing all the major cut content from the main questline in Fallout 3. The highlights of this video are many. Questline changed throughout development, including cut characters, quests, items, and dialogue coupled with a lot of inaccessible areas, many forgotten notes and unused maps from early development.
Meet Jennifer Hale the KotOR Voice Actor And World Record Holder - Cracked
The news of a Knights of the Old Republic (or KOTOR if you're nasty) came as a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Bioware's remake to the 2003 classic Star Wars RPG is going to be a must play title when we eventually get our hands on it. A good action adventure RPG almost always owes much of the gravity and emotional impact of its story to the stellar (intergalactic pun intended) voice acting. Fans were delighted to hear that one of the best characters from KOTOR, Bastila, will be reprised by the actor who originally voiced her, none other than Jennifer Hale.
Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role-playing Game Discount & Price Increase - Steam
Now that the second chapter of the game is completed, the price will be increased to $29.99 after the summer sale is over. It's the first price increase out of 3 planned:

Early Access launch (3 locations) - $24.99 ($19.99 on sale right now)
Chapter 2 completed (7 locations) - $29.99
Chapter 3 completed (all 12 locations) - $34.99
Chapter 4 (the endgame), full release - $39.99

Since Colony Ship is now on sale with 20% off, the effective discount (after the price increase) is $10 or its regional equivalent. Now, here's the million twenty-dollar question.
SpellForce: Conquest of Eo Preview - Rock Paper Shotgun
Ahead of the announcement, developers Owned By Gravity invited me to take a sneaky peek, and I was treated to a hands-off demonstration from producer Jan Wagner. While the game was in a pre-alpha state, it was already looking pretty swish, especially the rather lovely (and lovingly hand-crafted, I later discovered) world map. It all looks very 4X-like, and all four of the exes are present and correct in varying amounts - but there is one significant departure from the formula that Wagner was keen to emphasise.

SpellForce veterans will be pleased to hear that the game is in good hands. Wagner himself served as a producer on the first two SpellForce titles, so Conquest of Eo is something of a homecoming for him. Even though it represents a shift in genre, he's also insistent that it isn't a spin-off of the numbered games, instead presenting a different take on the world. Taking place roughly 100 years after the original game, it serves as a direct sequel to the first two titles in the series, as SpellForce 3 was a prequel.

KOTOR PS5 Remake News Coming in the Next Several Months - Pushsquare
The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake for PlayStation 5 and PC will have updates to share "in the next several months", it's been confirmed. Speaking during the Q4 Embracer Group report (the owner of developer Aspyr Media), board member Matthew Karch explained how Saber Interactive is also lending a hand with development as the game is "basically" being remade from scratch.
KOTOR Remake May Not Be in the Most Experienced Hands - Gamerant
Some fans have shared concerns over the KOTOR Remake since the initial announcement, but recent events make it even more worrisome. Aspyr got its start porting games to Mac, and over time, became known as a porting developer. It has released original IP before like Stubbs the Zombie and remasters, but ports have always been its bread and butter. It has ported a ton of Star Wars games, including recently The Force Unleashed and KOTOR 2 to Switch.

The problem is that neither of its latest games is a great port. The first one does not translate well to the Switch and is something that, perhaps, the world didn’t need, but KOTOR 2 is a different story. It translates well to the Switch when it does work, but Knights of the Old Republic 2 has tons of bugs, including one big game-breaking one. It was released in an unbeatable state, and so this isn’t exactly a vote of confidence. Beyond that, Aspyr has never made anything to the level of a Knights of the Old Republic Remake.

It’s worth noting if there are KOTOR Remake combat changes or anything like that remains to be seen, but a remake has to do a lot of work from the ground up, rewrite or revise certain elements, and all of that to really be a remade with high detail. If nothing else, all of that goes doubly so for such a high-profile project. It’s bold, and it’s a proving ground for Aspyr—that’s a good thing—but that’s also a concern.
Final Fantasy 16 uses ‘British English only’ and no American accents - VGC
Speaking to Japanese publication Dengeki Online, Naoki Yoshida said that all of the game’s voice and motion capture work was performed by European actors, so as not to break expectations from American players that the setting’s characters should have British accents. “This is especially true for our generation, but there is an image that ‘Medieval fantasy = Europe’ made popular by The Lord of the Rings,” he said.

Dang! :(

I wasn't planning to get it this Summer but with such price increase already scheduled, I think I'll have to change my mind, even if I only intend to play it after full release.

Final Fantasy 16 - No Open World And 9 Other Details You Need To Know

Final Fantasy 16 had a pretty good showing during this month's PlayStation State of Play with new gameplay and a Summer 2023 release window. Development-wise, it was confirmed to be almost finished back in May so it's very much on track. Let's take a look at 10 new things you should know about the game right now.

The Iron Oath Fire and Ice Timeframe and Roadmap Update - Steam
As we're nearing the end of the month, we wanted to give you an update on when you can expect the Fire and Iceupdate to drop. Our original plan was to release it during the last week of June, but with the Summer Sale now taking place, we've decided to wait until the event ends to officially release it. You won't have to wait that long to try it out though, as we'll be moving it to the Public Test Branch in early July. In the meantime, we're doing a bit more testing and also adding the ability to flee from fights in dungeons and in the overworld.
Assassin's Creed Developer Reveals Horses were People - RPS
Former Ubisoft developer Charles Randall has been spilling the beans about the original Assassin's Creed on Twitter again. This time, Randall made several of the RPS team spit out their tea when he revealed that the game's horse model is really a stretched out human skeleton. That's some genuinely nightmarish imagery to contemplate first thing in the morning.
Obsidian's Josh Sawyer On Pentiment - TheGamer
For decades, veteran game developer Josh Sawyer has been designing big, deep, dense RPGs. Games like classic D&D dungeon crawler Icewind Dale, sublime Infinity Engine throwback Pillars of Eternity (the sequel to which is one of the best RPGs ever made), and beloved Fallout sequel New Vegas. But Sawyer's next project is something very different indeed. Pentiment (more on that curious name later) is a narrative adventure game set in 16th Century Bavaria.

Does anyone know if this is a Gacha game as well (like Genshin Impact)?

The lost Doom RPG Game has a fan-made PC Remaster - PCGamesN
You can finally play the Doom RPG on PC thanks to the valiant efforts of the Doom community in dragging this decades-old RPG to the modern age.
Stoneshard - Devlog: Electromancy
Let's start with some context. Unlike other archetypes, mages have been neglected in terms of new content for quite a while. There are multiple reasons for this: before new magic could be added, we had to introduce a number of additional mechanics first, which wasn't possible while the focus was on building more important and global systems. It also didn't help that developing new magic requires much more resources than weaponry and utility trees. But now the time has come, and we finally can give magic the attention it deserves. Therefore, meet Electromancy!
What Did I Do To Mobile Game Developers To Make Them Hate Me So Much?
So just for fun, I decided to fire up my phone and try a bunch of mobile games, to find out how weird things have gotten with them.

I started out with a game my kids used to play, Dragon Story. Then, whenever it showed me an ad for another game, I tried that game. When that game tried to get me to play a different game, I switched to that game. And so on.

I tried BitLife, Episode, Brawl Stars, Join & Clash, Wheel Scale!, and a bunch of others. Based on estimates at a site I found called SensorTower, all these games are making good or great money. Though SensorTower might just be making up all its figures. Based on the ethical level mobile gaming operates on, that wouldn't surprise me.

I had a little bit of fun and got really irritated on many occasions, and I made some observations you might find amusing, written below.

This year's strategy RPG hotness is Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga - PCGamer

If you had any doubt as to whether a game was a strategy-focused roleplaying game, a JRPG in the style of Fire Emblem or Ogre Battle, I can bet you'd be clear that it is when I tell you it's called Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga. Preposterously grandiose name aside, this indie could be game of the year material if you're a fan of the genre.

Since its launch earlier this month it has attracted some attention, pushing onto the bestseller list in some territories and racking up over 1,500 Steam reviews 96% positive.

Every In-Development Fantasy RPG Led By Former Witcher Devs - Gameranthttps://gamerant.com/the-witcher-former-devs-fantasy-rpgs-gord-invincible/
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is arguably one of the best fantasy RPGs in recent gaming history — the product of the development team’s ingenuity, hard work, and dedication. That said, some of the Witcher devs have gone on to work on other projects, and they’re worth checking out, especially considering the former developers’ track records. Interesting to note here is that most of the former Witcher 3 devs’ upcoming titles are fantasy games.

However, it’s a mixed bag, with some games being kept firmly under wraps and others already having reveal trailers out. Additionally, with The Witcher 4 likely being a few years away, fans of the franchise can look to these games for their fantasy fix.

Why are you so negative about every damn thing? Along comes a game that doesn't focus on (or even have) combat, something you supposedly want more of, and your first instinct is to shit on it.

Yeah sorry I thought it was also before I shared it. Anyway Larian hasn't shared anything new except small patches. Last info claimed a box broke the game.

The Box That Broke Baldur's Gate 3 - Gamespot

Baldur's Gate 3, like Dungeons & Dragons, is a game meant to evoke player freedom. But somewhere early in its making, a small decision was made that collided with that basic principle, and sent its development into a cascading spiral of problems.

At the heart of an unforgettable Dungeons & Dragons campaign is a great dungeon master. It's their responsibility to guide the player on an adventure and make sure the world reacts to their actions in a way that feels natural and unplanned.

For developer Larian Studios, to capture that D&D essence in Baldur's Gate 3, it has to evoke that same sense of freedom and role playing. It's collaborative storytelling between the player and the story. Every choice, action, reaction, and consequence has to feel like it really matters, no matter how big or small.

But somewhere early in the making of Baldur's Gate 3, the game's dungeon master, Swen Vincke, made a small decision that sent its development into a cascading spiral of problems that has been a big challenge to solve. And all it involved was getting the player to acquire one very specific item: the Mysterious Artefact and it belongs to a character named Shadowheart. In an effort to get the player to receive this item as elegantly and naturally as possible, as though it was their own decision, has resulted in creating 100s of possibilities that plagued the game's development.

This is the story of how the Mysterious Artefact broke Baldur's Gate 3.
