Here are more reviews for Dark Souls III.

MMORPG, 8.8

Dark Souls 3 is the great game everyone expected it to be. There’s no denying that. Two late game bosses are absolutely off-the-wall fantastic. But in hindsight having played it, I can’t help feeling that there’s not much room for the series to go if From Software insists on such a breakneck pace with sequels. Much like Bloodborne just felt like Souls in a different place, Dark Souls 3 feels like “more of the same” a little too often. Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing, and I worry that another quick turnaround on a Souls game will make the series feel stale. Here’s hoping whatever comes next shows us that the From Software still has more tricks up its sleeve.
Eurogamer

This is a truly epic journey, from your first faltering steps across gloomy cliffs to striding like a lord-slayer through Lothric Castle. Like all epics it has endless diversions, quarrels, unexpected companions, and great big fights. Is it the finest Souls game yet? I don't know; it might be. I can say this, though: Dark Souls 3 is a fabulous game, and a fitting conclusion to the greatest trilogy of modern times.

It's a pretty valid complain to be honest. It was not friendly at all for kb/m. They didn't even care to add keyboard shortcuts instead of controller ones for both previous games. It wouldn't hurt for them to sort the interface for PC a bit.

Not to mention that the response time when chaining attacks was ludicrous on PC. There was a pretty large time gap between fast attacks on mouse compared to controller and jump attack was impossible to do.

They are just lazy when it comes to PC.

Did they fix hte crappy interface found in dark soul or does pc (kb/m) interface still suck rotten egg ?

I didn't say this. I don't know why it says I said this but I only just got here so it must be a forum bug.

I wouldn't say this because, while I play with controller, I played a full co-op run with a friend who used KB+M and I forget what it was he was doing easier than me but by the end of the game he had me considering switching to KB+M

Please don't get angry. I'm not saying you're bad with a keyboard or a mouse or that my friend is better than you. Everyone is special in their own way and I'm sure people who find rebind-able controls crappy make up for it by developing other traits such as a better personality.

Yep, I played 1 and 2 just fine with M&K, I admit it took a mod and third party software to setup but once setup I found I played better with M&K.

I'm not excusing from softs terrible out of the box M&K support but it was possible if your willing to take the time to set it up to play with M&K.

As for the reviews, just looking at the score. I'm not reading any of them I'm going in blind.

They seem to be all around 90% without having access to full online functionality. That's easily 100% with online enabled and a player base to play with.

Yeah the issue is not that the game is unplayable with K&M. I played through both games without a controller, although you did lose some functionality in DS2, but it was not a huge deal. The issue is that the developers make no effort to make the game playable. It shouldn't require 3rd party mods and hours of figuring out proper keybindings on our part to do something that the developers should have done before it even got to us.

For the DS series we tend to forgive these issues because the games are so good. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't still complain. Unfortunately the developer does a similarly poor job on other games they port to the PC, and people tend to be less forgiving on those because they are not DS.

I agree the out of box support for K&M was poor. I think though that they're are many people out there that believe it just can't be played properly with M&K. Just wanted to say it can but requires work.

What functionality was lost in DS2?

Well it's been awhile but I remember there were certain types of moves that were just very hard to trigger with m&k. I think some required you to hit a button twice in rapid succession, which was not only hard to do, but it meant the game was always waiting for the second key press to make sure it didn't happen which delayed actions requiring a single button press. I think I was able to solve that partially by remapping, but there was never a good place to map the double press ability to so I just had to play without using that move. Some people on these threads have mentioned other issues too, like the difficulty of performing jump attacks. I could never do a jump attack either, but not being able to do one, I don't know really know how important they were or what I was missing.

Ah yes, the double click conundrum. It was for power attacks. I remapped them to a key so they only required a single press. Fixing the waiting for second press lag. Then I used my mouse software to remap my mouse 4&5 buttons to the keys I remapped the power attacks to. Mouse 1&2 regular attacks, mouse 4&5 power attacks, no double click problems.

Crazy I know, I spent a good 2 days perfecting the controls. Remap, try it out for a bit, change mouse software, change keyboard software, retry, repeat for 2 days until perfect. It's that easy.

Never had problem doing jump attacks but I use it very rarely anyway.

I am thinking of getting this but not sure for PS4 or PC.

I am not very good controlling the camera on the PS4 with the analog stick. But I am pretty good at controlling the camera with mouse easily. But people are talking about how this game is better played with a controller than M&K, I am bit confused as to which version to get!

Any help is appreciated. :)

Get it for PC. I've never understood the it plays better with controller crap. I understand people being more comfortable with controllers wanting to use one but that doesn't make it better. Also I've read about complaints of major stuttering in the late game on console.

I played DS1 and 2 with K&M and 300 hours of bloodborne with controller and I couldn't find any advantages controller had over keyboard and mouse other than the work it takes to set up K&M but that's a one time investment.

Even if you find you don't like it with k&M you can always hook a controller to your PC. I play many PC games with a ps4 controller when I stream them to my tv with steam link or nvidia shield.
