In five separate videos, some new gameplay is shown of Dark Souls III. Here is part 1.

Dualshockers has links to all five videos.

Thanks Couch.

Was hoping to see some new areas but it the same areas I played months ago in the stress test.

Still makes me want to build a time machine and travel to April 12th, though.

Seems a bit silly to have magic as a "weapon art" for Mace. There's nothing inherently magical about a blunt weapon and it doesn't appear to be anything other than an ordinary mace. I would have made the weapon art more in line with Dark Souls II early-game and focused on its heavy, armour crushing blows.

How am I supposed to play without magic and ranged weapons when I can summon the magic spirit of my mace? It's just not realistic! As funny as it sounds, the realism in the weapons, how you couldn't wave a greataxe around like a rapier, how you can't just swing through walls, how you move slowly in heavy armour, etc, etc is what makes DarkSouls combat special. It just seems to be heading away from its realism roots and this armoured knight is spinning with his massively underpowered scimitar weapon-art like he's wearing no armour at all.

Maybe its just plain lazy and they couldn't be bothered making a special weapon swing for mace so they went with a magic buff? I dunno.

Still can't wait to play it, obviously. :)

Yeah, they are going a bit to far in the bloodborne direction for combat imo. Having played the stress test though there was a noticeable difference in the few weapons I had available but not as much as in DS obviously.

I always play a quick thief type so it probably won't effect me as much anyway. As a thief type, I'm really glad to see the original backstab returning.

Sucks I'm probably never going to get to play Bloodborne.

Not having a PC release would be a huge waste of money for From Software if Sony wasn't bribing them to make it PS4 only.

I mean, you look at Dragons Dogma selling like crazy and you know Bloodborne would get probably just as many sales on PC as Dark Souls 1 and 2 have.

Yeah I'd love to play Bloodborne but I'm not going to invest in a PS4 for it. Probably.

DS3 looks great though.
