I'm in a similar boat. I was disappointed, but didn't hate it, and I'll have another look after the update.
I wish they had iterated more on the formula of the first one.

Yeah, I agree.

The first one felt like i reached a level where I could do some stuff easily and get challenged now and then and of course lose due to rash decisions sometimes. This one I feel as if the randomness has too much of an influence. I would not be surprised if this one is more liked by the hardcore fans, but to me it gets too frustrating.
