Diablo 4 - Season of the Malignant Trailer

Season of the extreme disappointment.

Basically, they add a chance for some elites to drop an extra powerful socketable gem. That's it, that's what you get to do for the next 3 months. Exactly the same thing, but being more powerful, without any extra content to adjust for it.

Good thing I wouldn't have time for Diablo at the time the season 1 releases anyway.

And
  • no mention of adding an endgame, any endgame.
  • no mention of unlinking item level from player level, so that alts are actually encouraged rather than stymied.
  • no mention of UI or stash changes. You don't need inventory space in an arpg anyway.

But... they did manage to waste the first 20 minutes of their talk with a completely unwanted Diablo Immortal promo piece. Followed up by 30 minutes recapping already known information regarding the renown system.

Is this truly what Blizzard has become? D4 is one of the worst arpgs out there in its current state.

I got to level 5 (maybe 9 ... not sure as they came pretty fast - I stopped fairly soon in) and then uninstalled the game. Luckily I got it for free for having an Nvidia card. Maybe at some point I will play it more but I need disk space for far better games coming soon - BG3, Phantom Liberty, and Starfield.

I got to level 100, but the game is very pointless after about level 80. You never get any better (higher "item power") gear after that point, and the grind from 80 to 100 is very time-consuming and mind-numbing, although a patch about a week ago helped with that by giving more XP from sigil dungeons (too late for me). Then there's nothing in particular to look forward to at level 100, you don't even get an achievement (the game calls them "challenges") for hitting level 100 which is hilarious considering how arduous it is to do so. Not sure who would want to go through it every "season", only the hardest core autists I suppose.

I feel the same as you. When I was playing there was a few dungeons that had very high elite density, so I farmed those on loop. Then they "fixed" them to spawn only about half the amount of elites, and at that point I just gave up, there's no point in playing after level 70-80 at all.

Yeah, for now I think the best plan with D4 is to reach a level somewhere around 70-80 (depending on your personal tastes) and then just pretend the game ended.

That is true. The 3 of them (which many people will own) will take well over 300 GB of data!!!!

We are soon going to have 3 of the largest, highest quality AAA+ games to play and all around the same time. Average/Good quality content like Diablo 4 is going to have a hard time maintaing it's sales momentum - although I guess Blizzard has already made bank with D4? I know Phantom Liberty isn't a full game but I think there are a lot of people like me who has soon as we heard PL was going to fundamentally change the base game we decided to wait for the expansion.

The next 6 months is going to be some pretty memorable gaming I think.

Heck yeah between three major RPGs and the many smaller RPGs it's a fitting end to a stale year. I almost thought it would be another bad year for our sites GOTY awards.

Now I'll be having a hard time choosing who deserves to win.

*Diablo 4 wont even be on my top ten.

I'm upgrading just in time.

I'm not sure where D4 stands now sales-wise, but it broke records in its first week.
