Diablo 4 - Vessel Of Hatred Previews

I enjoyed my time with D4. But I’m not sure if I’ll get this expansion. The class doesn’t appeal to me enough to drop additional money on the game. I’m admittedly a little salty that we still dont have a sword and board class as that is my preferred play style. I think I’ll wait for the paladin.

I already got the expansion, but am also waiting for the paladin. But I am more impressed with the Spiritborn than I thought I would be.
I love some of the incarnations, like the gorilla and the leopard. Probably also the centipede.
And I also want to see where the story goes. The story was probably the best thing about Diablo 4.

Am I missing something on the pricing for this expansion? Standard Edition is $55, and there is an ultimate edition for $120. I didn't pay that much for the base game. I sure as heck am not going to be paying that much for an expansion that adds one new character class.

The expansion adds the new character class and a whole story act and region. It's not clear how much that is in terms of story, but the region seems very much similar in size to one of the 5 major regions the game started with. I'd expect it to be similar to previous Diablo expansions. So decently meaty.
And from the character class previews it seems there's also a level increase or something. And new skills added, maybe to all classes? It's not yet clear and they're saying there's more info to come.

But yeah, the base expansion is around 50. And the 120 just includes a bunch of cosmetics and a bunch of their ingame currency that you can use for more cosmetics.
The launch prices at least. They're bound to get discounts later on.

I'm seeing $40 for the expansion over here. I wouldn't expect it to be any less considering it's Activision/Blizzard.

Completed the main campaign in Diablo IV. It was fun for a while but disappointing:

- very easy as you can't choose other than World Tier 2 until you finish the main campaign - never died through the whole campaign (about 25 hours with Druid)!

- Crafting and strategy are redundant as you receive rare and legendry items (gear and weapons) around every corner and fight, most with mana and life regeneration,

- Boring skills compared to Diablo 2 that add small and unnoticeable increments,

- MMO design with hubs and many fetch and kill quests (complete with popping treasure chests and cooldowns for even basic skills - e.g. selecting a target to activate an attack skill for my wolves! their passive attack is useless),

- many cutscenes that are meaningless and are just add to the bloat.

I am not interested in any of the online features and hence have not tried them.

I wholeheartedly recommend Diablo II Resurrection instead, beautiful, faithful, fun, addictive, each class is different with very interesting skills, beautiful recreated cut-scenes, runs offline and cheaper!

Even against the field bosses? Did you try taking them on solo?
I only played solo as single player through the whole campaign, clearing all bosses up to Lilith and without paying attention to any online events. World tier ii difficulty was the only higher difficulty tier available if you are starting from new (and it is embarrassingly easy). So not sure what these field bosses are to be honest.

I've stopped playing all Blizzard games as I'm not the target audience anymore. 🤷‍♂️

Last game I played was StarCraft 2 and hated Battle.net.

Probably not for me either. I read they're making good changes and improvements but it feels like too little and too late.

They're pretty hard to miss. Usually a huge monster roaming the open-world. You'll often see one engaged in battle with other players.
I have never come across them as I was playing in the Eternal Realm mode (essentially single player). I noticed some online players here and there but I have not come across world bosses - it might be to do with my client setting or they only appear in the other game mode associated with seasons (where you can go beyond Tier II in these).
