Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Gameplay

Man those NPCs give me a bad feeling. Still like I said before not a day one game for me. I'll wait for patches, DLC, and the eventual GOTY they'll release in a few years.

Yeah, I'm not seeing anything exciting, either. However, I'm also not seeing anything bad.

The story and possibly exploration are going to be big for me. They can't show the story stuff much because >>spoilerz!<< They can't really show exploration, either, because nobody wants to watch them poke around in all the nooks and crannies of a level. So, they just run through and make sure they get their talking points in.

P.S. The Crossroads, as of 9 years ago when I was playing the game:

There's little risk for the player to get lost or miss anything with that profusion of icons and pointers. It's like a Xmas tree!

It's striking how every little detail is taken care of to make the experience as streamlined as possible: basic control of the party members through very few directives, minimal and quick-to-read conversation interface, simplistic merchant interface, small and nearby areas to get to the next combat or interaction as quickly as possible, ... I haven't played their games for a while, so I only realize now how much BioWare's design has changed since their early games.

The story and quests seem OK, though.

And that will be the point for me. When I get attached to the story/world/npcs, I don't mind the classic RPG features being only mediocre.

My itch for deeper strategic combat has been scratched by the TBS strategy for quite some time now anyway.(I fired up Old World again yesterdays - great game.)

I was joking get the hint man. :brood:

He no longer works for BioWare though.

Blizzard is his new employer.

He was also working on that StarWars Outlaw flop it seems.:rotfl:

I love the lore in Dragon Age. I read the prelude novel Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne before Origins was even released because I was so excited about it. But Inquisition was a lot worse than Dragon Age 2, which was already much worse than Origins. I see absolutely nothing attractive about this game to make me spend my time and money, especially in lieu of better options. I will skip this game and play some of the games in my backlog until the release of KCD2, Avowed, and perhaps GreedFall 2

I hear you... I read all of Gaider's DA books and love the franchise, in general. DA:I was actually a pretty fun game, despite the significant franchise creep into something dissimilar to DA:O.

But this one just does not look appealing to me. The companions look (and sound) good, the music seems spot on ...but the combat has continued the 'bridge too far' realm into phone games and anime convulsions.

It really is going to take some decent (credible, non-paid, non "review copy") reviews for me to buy in on this one.
