DA:V Dragon Age: The Veilguard News

Dragon Age: The Veilguard
I pretty much agree with Valeith. Opinion only, because I don't really know, but I felt it bombed because of politically sensitive content and because the game was okay but not great so was easy pickings. I enjoyed the game and would give it about 7.5. I only played it through once and started a second run but lost steam.

Some things I loved, other things I found frustrating and annoying. In the end I don't regret buying or playing it, and had a lot of fun, but it just didn't grab me like other games have.

Yeo, I also rated DA:V with a 7.5. In comparison DA:O was 9.0, DA2 and DA:I 8.5.

My other games with a 7.5 rating were: Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Spellforce: Conquest of Eo, Expeditions: Rome, Elex II, Wasteland 2, Tyranny, Technomancer, Torment: Tides of Numenera

Hmmm, haven't played a DA game since Origins, and I was wondering / hopeful that Veilguard could be just the hook I needed. Now I'm not so sure, especially after reading that piece. And most of the critiques are about the merits of the game itself aside from the identity politics controversy.

Can't say I'm surprised to see this happening.
After beating around the bush for a bit, a BioWare Studio Update on the BioWare Blog announces layoffs. While "a core team at BioWare is developing the next Mass Effect game under the leadership of veterans from the original trilogy," now that Dragon Age: The Veilguard is out, they "don’t require support from the full studio." The announcement spins this as positively as possible:

I can't say I'm surprised. I wonder if this is the beginning of the end for Bioware. Hopefully ME5 turns out ok, but at this point I'll be surprised if it exceeds expectations.

The Bioware post that Couch linked to makes it sound all rosy, like everyone is getting other jobs at EA, but apparently in reality they fired many/most of the key people from DA:V. This site seems somewhat obscure, but everything is sourced with links to posts:

Yep my link was all just positive corporate PR speech.

I even hinted that in the quote below the link.

Nothing changes though and the cycle will repeat itself again.

Yep but most readers will have to pay to read bloomberg news.

Unless you get a free token for read access.

So that's why I shared the other three.🤷‍♂️

Ah, that Bloomberg article comes up fine for me without a subscription. Not sure why.

Every article shows one paragraph then gets a block pop-up that says you have to pay for uninterrupted access. Someone can gift the link for free acess though.

Main reason why the forum never covers that site.

Not this one, or at least not for me. Had no problem reading the whole thing 2 days ago and have no problem reading it now. Never subscribed to Bloomberg.

But yeah, I have seen that with plenty of Bloomberg articles in the past.

Well four out of five times that happened but the fifth time the whole article loaded with the popup. Must be done at random or based on the region you live.
