Dragon Age: The Veilguard Doles Out More Reveals

Amid a flurry of RPG news and announcements at the end of August, Bioware continues the hype train for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, one of the fall’s most anticipated titles.

The latest: new videos on the warrior class’ combat abilities, more details on the Veilguard’s companions, a developer Q&A on Discord, and last (but certainly not least): the debut episode of Dragon Age: Vows and Vengeance, an eight-part narrative podcast series taking place in the Dragon Age universe.

We forgive you if you missed some of the bigger details; it’s been a heckuva week. Overall, it continues to be an exciting time to be a Dragon Age fan, so let’s break it all down for you.

New Gameplay Videos Showcase Warrior Class
We start with the oldest bit of news, yet arguably the most impressive. Back on August 24th, Bioware published a blog post with four new gameplay videos offering a look into the combat system and how players can strategically customize the loadouts of Rook and their companions to challenge Thedas’ threats on the field. Still don't like color-coded gear for single player games, makes them feel like mmos and to me it's immersion-breaking.

That aside, everything is looking pretty good. Nice to see 9 gear slots with obtainable custom effects on items instead of the usual boring items with +1 Strength or +2 Stamina, that's great. Love the runes and the skill trees, it looks pretty deep and in general feels like everything the way you build your character will be style-defining and game-changing combat wise, which is always a great thing. This is definitely a day-1 purchase for me.
