Compared to the old (Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny, Realms of Arkania: Star Trail and Realms of Arkania: Shadows over Riva), these "remakes" are a horribly botched attempt.

I think you're mixing something up. The Drakensang games are independent from the mentioned trilogy. The actual remakes are these: Blade of Destiny, Star Trail

He's just like anyone else. There are far too many games in the genre for someone to have played them all. I haven't played the Drakensang games either (other than just to try them) despite owning them for years.
