Why don't you use a proxy to buy it from Gamersgate, like I did?

Isn't using proxies usually against the TOS of most download services? I don't know about GG but Valve/Steam are known to have banned people for proxy usage so I'd be careful about advising people to "just use a proxy".
It might be the first and last time they ever do it and they might lose a small fortune in the process if they are heavily invested into a certain download service.
Sure, I know that the risk is pretty low but if you are in fact heavily invested into a certain service do you really want to take chances on a dozen or more games that you already own for just one single game that can only be acquired via using a proxy? Don't think so...

How would I do the proxy thing?

Wondering if I might not be better off just torrenting it and buying something else I don't really want from the same publisher.

Is the studio itself still going or has it given up on the drakensang games?

Not possible, but older threads had multiple shops in Benelux.

If you don't want to use a proxy but don't mind the download option otherwise you can always ask someone to gift it*.

It's pretty safe with GG as it's a significantly different service from Steam- no client so no persistent monitoring/ kill switch, uses 3rd parties for almost all transactions (so GG itself doesn't know your 'real' address) and you can use an alternative account. Once it's downloaded you don't have to worry further.

*Not me unfortunately, as it looks like GG have started detecting my IP region correctly now.
