ELEX - Graphics 2016 vs Graphics 2017

5/10 reviews are starting to come out for Elex and most of them by fanboys of Skyrim and Mass Effect so I won't bother posting them here.

However there seems to be repeated mention of the following in various places that sort of worrying...

-random frame rate drops in number of places and how that affect combat. You miss attacks etc.
-combat locks camera and makes running away difficult.
-bad and lazy writing.
-lot of fetch quest (hmm)

Are these reviews based on the Day 1 patch (at least I think I heard there was going to be one)

They are mostly based on review copy but I am not sure if that included patch or not.

This is a very positive review but its from someone who have played past PB games. But even he says its not worth the full price….

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=703&v=oTicsIK5umw

He says "It's right up there with some of the classics" despite him having "a ton of issues with the game." His main issue is the AI bugs, companions not attacking, etc.. He didn't say it's not worth full price, he said he wants to wait for a sale because the bugs need to be patched with the AI. Hopefully that will be patched on day one.

So is the patch going to be downloaded when the game unlocks? I'd hate to have to wait for it, but I don't want to play without it either.

I couldn't care less about any early reviews. I've already seen enough of the game to know that it was worth the preorder for me.

One play tester playing Elex said it was made by PB the makers of Gothic 2, the greatest RPG ever made and I'm simply not going to argue about it. It wasn't like he was giving an opinion, it was like he was just stating a fact. Of course I didn't disagree with him but I would have never made such a comment. Minus one in Bravery for me.

I have never been wrong on a game when I commit to it on Day One. Of course Gothic 3 and Ultima 9 did take a few years to get to that I-was-right state.

Elex was a day one (pre) purchase. It's just that PB makes the kind of games I like to play ever since Gothic 1. And based on what I have seen thus far, they (PB) are still in their groove.

My biggest concern about the game is, why are they opening it up in 21 hours instead of 12 (its around 12:00 pm now in LA area). I gotta weight till somewhere around 9:00 am. That's the real problem. Me not gettin' what I want right now is bad, very bad. ME, ME, ME, Me, Me. I am the center of the Universe, but of course you all know that . . .

took me a long time to break my physical copy habit (although still a sucker when it come to Kickstarter) but with the shelf space for PC games now relegated to some tiny hidey hole that switches every full moon, Steam now works for me.

Side note: about 33% of my older games had codes that I was able to use and place the games in my Steam Library.

Steam now says 19 hours to go . . .

Yep, also deleted my copy since I finished it. Also, Fallout 4 -> GONE.

Planescape Torment? Downloaded, never played -> KAPUT.

Plus a huge disk waster in the WINDOWS directory, ccmcache => Cleaned out.

100 GB restored.

Holding out the Prey and Doom demos.

And Joxer will be happy to know that ESO in all its 60 GB glory remains firmly planted on my harddrive. ;)

My rig is about 4 years old, state of the art at the time with a ssd boot up drive. I did run Bioshock on it but that filled up the drive and my hard drive is pretty good so no problems switching over to the hard drive.

I was thinking about getting an SSD drive for my third storage option (and yep they are cheap) , but my rig is old and can't handle any VR stuff. My Geforce 770 is way behind the times, so now I am thinking of getting a new rig.

Oh, and when I got my rig my 120 ssd cost about 200 bucks, 15 min ago I saw a lot of them on Amazon for around 60.

Eh? They've gotten more affordable, but I wouldn't call them dirt cheap.

I should rephrase. I sometimes forget where people are located. If you have a decent source in Asia their price is 'dirt cheap' compared to anything else available.
They are still reasonable in USA and Germany. I can't comment anywhere else.

I'm guessing Australia still pays 3x sticker price for any technology :)
