ELEX - New Piranha Bytes Game Announced

Though not a PB enthusiast myself, I'm hoping for something like Wizardry 8 on the fantasy/ science scale. Not "we also have swords because swords are cool".

set in a brand new post-apocalyptic science fantasy
OMG OMG another sci fi. :excited: :gasp:
I have to open a new thread about it.

Just to say, it's not available to preorder yet, but unlike many announced titles, I trust PB enough to take this one today.

"Edgy"

'nuff said.
Have to agree. Suspected yet another NO HUMOR INSIDE german RPG.
Ah well, nobody's perfect.

With PB I'm 100% certain no surviving bears mutated to have reviving power that puts them back on the top of your arse the moment you kill 'em.

It is PB, so I am intrigued and willing to give them some benefit, regardless of how many buzzwords and tropes were harmed in the making of that PR statement ... ;)

A bit offputting advertising but exciting news nonetheless. The genre sounds decent enough.

A benefit of a post-apocalyptic setting is that the population is small enough for a few people to make a significant difference to the balance of things. There's no major corporations or big governments around to dominate affairs. In that sense it's more like a medieval setting than a modern one.

Here's hoping for a game that will actually be different/better than Risen 2 and 3. A return to the Gothic formula would be amazing.

"xenial"
That's Nordic's inXenious translation of the word xenophil used in the German PR.

xenial = hospitable, especially to visiting strangers or foreigners.
xenophilic = an attraction to foreign peoples, cultures, or customs.

Not really the same meaning.

Same here. Though fantasy post-apoc could turn out to be more interesting (to me at least) than nuclear post-apoc like Fallout. But then again it's "science fantasy" and not pure old regular fantasy so meh. Anyway, it's definitely the first PB game ever that I will not buy on release.

A single paragraph description is enough for you to know that you won't be buying it at release? Seems a little silly to me, but ok.

Personally, I think we have more than enough regular fantasy games on the market. I'm looking forward to something different.
