Keyboard lighting was kind of cool in LOTRO. The keyboard lit up red if you were in combat. It helps if you are exploring and get ambushed.
I think the hotkeys lighting up feature is kind of cool. Any lighting support on a keyboard nowadays is great when you are playing in the dark.

The usefulness is doubtful since most of us learn to type without looking at the keys. I find lighting support a gimmick suited kids and wish products aimed at gamers were more sophisticated in their design in general.

Well, in the dark you can't help but notice if the keyboard lights up. I was also using a gaming laptop, so I saw the keys easier. But even a normal keyboard at the very least you will see light up in the dark and at least be able to see certain keys better.

I like this studio and their previous games. So I've hopeful and basically looking forward to this.
And then I see -- Supports Special Keyboards -- and I start hearing a roar in the back of my head --

Where do you see them pushing it as a big benefit? They're just mentioning that it's something they're going to support.

Wasted time imo. I have a lighted mouse and keyboard but I never even notice it as I'm looking at the screen the whole time.
How about something useful like multi monitor support. That I can't have the game on one screen, map on another and inventory, character sheet etc on another is a real shame. I am gaming on a pc in 2017, after all.

Was that a guy in the video. Pretty sure it was. His nail length really bothered me. I was more distracted by that then the colors of the keyboard changing.
I hate long nails, especially long *dirty* nails ;-) Good thing I don't live in mediaeval times

What's with kids these days and all their fancy-shmancy gear? Keyboards that light up and blink at you? Pfff! When I was a kid and played a video game on my PC, I had a pile of rocks beside me and anytime I needed to press a button, I threw one at the keyboard and hoped.

Eh? Seriously looking at my keyboard for the first time( after having it for more than two years), MS industrial, noticing all the buttons I didn't realize it had.
Even has one that says "calculator", let's press it, see what it does.
