Alistair spotted that ELEX version 1.0.2846.0 is now live:

ELEX Version 1.0.2846.0 live now

Changelog

Engine

  • Crash fix for systems with more than 16 logical CPU cores.
  • If savegame limit is reached, “Create new savegame” is hidden. (limit is 99)
  • Fixed saving for all Windows user.
  • Fixed some freezes in tutorials. The tutorial won't be shown if the corresponding key bindings are not valid.
  • Fixed saving after the Big Bang fight was not possible.
  • Fixed pink water on some older AMD/ATI graphic devices.
  • Fixed game freeze when you try to interact during an evade roll.
Quests

  • Fixed permanently angry NPCs.
  • Kral has now a quest marker for the Mana shrine quest.
  • Jax gets the correct award from Reinhold when joining the Clerics.
  • Bullet and Lucy don't die immediately when they encounter an enemy.
  • Fixed quest targets when fighting in the arena.
  • Trevor now gives Jax the correct reward, depending on his actions.
  • Mad Bob’s dialogue is now in the correct order, taking the Jax’s actions into account.
  • Jack will change his daily routine if Jax killed Hopkins and his bandits. Furthermore, the dialogue regarding Volkmar’s weapon now works properly.
  • The quest involving Riley, Darrel and Paige is closed correctly now. (Might be necessary to sleep in a bed to trigger this fix.)
  • Fixed a plot killer for a certain ending of the game. Talk to Logan twice, in case of having this issue in your save game.
  • Bill will now return to his hut after the player killed Vance and talked to him about the situation.
  • Martha will now not quit the dialogue, after Jax buys food from/trades with her - therefore she will now update the Legate situation if the player choses the ENDE/END dialogue option.
  • If the player has joined the Clerics and talks with Darrell, he will now offer a quest for the player. If the player already spoke to Darrell and had only his standard sentence to say, he only must talk to Darrell again and then Darrell will offer the quest for the player.
  • Nasty will no longer interfere in the battle between Player and Kid.
  • Map Target Ethan/Volkmar will now be removed correctly during the mission: Scrap Delivery.
  • Jack has now Volkmar’s Weapon in his inventory.
  • If you ask Jora if it's lawful to take the laser rifle, while he has a Smalltalk with Stormson, both should continue their Smalltalk. If this situation already happened, Jax must talk to Stormson again until he has nothing to say anymore and Jora will return on his Smalltalk routine.
  • Now Angrim at waterfall is teleported back to his current daily routine point.
  • Sometimes Stormson, Eli, Wolf and Oswald were at wrong positions. Now they are teleported back to their daily routine points.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Jax from joining the Berserkers.
  • Fixed Crony U5 mission. Now he won't get lost in certain locations.
  • Kallax gives additional main plot background information at showdown with him.
  • Fixed some time related quests.

  • Now there is an option to deactivate the double-click evade roll. To enable this option, you must assign a key to the evade option in the key bindings.
  • Human enemies can attack with low stamina now. This should prevent some issues with enemies doing nothing while they have low stamina.
  • Now you can transfer chunks of tens in the trade menu.
  • Fix for haggler perk. You can buy every item now.
  • Fixed helmets being in front of the camera while looting a chest.

I will wait a bit longer.

Also, I read the economy is highly exploitable (infinite loops through instantanously restocking merchants). You could restrain yourself, but this would also mean to make yourself dumber than you are. Worldbuilding 101.

Edit:
Exploit fix with crafting energy reserve.
This might be the fix.

How is deciding not to use and exploit, in order to not destroy your enjoyment of a game making you dumb?

I think perhaps he means one has to play dumb, in the sense of pretending not to know something you do about maximizing gains from the economy, which might be somewhat immersion-breaking.

Your probably right., didn't think of that. Dumb. :)

I understand that it can be immersion-breaking. For some players. But not for me - not exploiting something that isn't supposed to be in the game does not affect my immersion, I just ignore it (admittedly not always). Besides, I often impose stricter rules for my characters than given by the gamne, according to the background and the personality I assign to them. For instance, in MMO's I usually have at least one character who for principal reasons refuse to use the auction house, preferring a simpler life based on what he/she can find or create. More challenging, and very entertaining.

I avoid minimaxing and powergaming, in stead I like to do what (I think) the character would choose.

pibbur who in real life does not choose that simple lifestyle. Never been in an auction house, but seen many of them on TV.

As I said, you could do that, but you will have to go against your "best interest" as a char. Not doing what is "right" in a situation destroys immersion as much as using the exploit.

There shoudn't be such exploits to begin with. The game was rushed (as always) and nobody really had a look at the economic system (or didn't care too much).

Please. If you actually played the game you'd know that is not true. And the same exploits existed in Skyrim and they never fixed them. Maybe you should stop reading all this meta information online before playing or just, ya know, not cheat.

That is not an exploit. It is clearly intentional, depending on the vendor type, you have certain items from them hat they always have stock of. It proves that the designers intended the game to be a game first and immersive second, and that should be plain to see for anyone really. I mean, there is like only one female face type in the game and from memory, only one female voice actor as well. Mean while there are like at least 5 different types of faces for men and about the same number of voice actors.

In Gothic 2 there was definitely an infinite loop for theoretical infinite money, but it was requiring a lot of crafting and buying click for not much money. And it wasn't available for all paths. It's not breaking a game. Now if it's too efficient it's probably another perspective.

Most games tend to have those little tricks in them, if you waste enough time and effort to both find and perform them. I'd rather be questing and/or stabbing things in the face during my play time.

I had a similar experience with Avadon which made me angry. My expectation was that you steal at your own risk because you might get caught. But the game doesn't allow you to steal and then get caught. I.e. you can't get punished for stealing.

Much better (but I would still prefer to be able to enter a number).
Elex and Elex Potions now show a message that your Cold has increased.
Uh, interesting. I was wondering about their lack of side effects.
Fixed Perk Bookworm. Now you get XPs for reading letters and books.
Also, if you kept all your read books and letters and re-read them now, you still get the XP. Just tested that.

I never seem to find (or bother to search for) the exploits that people always refer to? Maybe it requires a certain larcenous mindset ;-) I am earning elexit the hard way through hunting and crafting potions - took me ages to get enough money for my warrior armour, but it was satisfying when I finally handed over the elexit. As for the economy: crafting non-potion items seems like a losing proposition? The cost in elexit to make a ring/amulet seems way (and I mean *way*) higher than the price you can sell it for. I suppose it means you can make certain things that you can't buy, but to be honest I've found more interesting magic items through exploration. And yes, you can profitably sell potions you've crafted etc, but I don't see a problem with that. You have gone to the trouble of harvesting ingredients, killing animals etc - its only fair that you can profit from that.

And as I said, for some, yes. Not for everyone. Certainly not for me. Depends on how you play the game.

Agreed. Exploits shouldn't be there.

pibbur who sometimes tend to wish there were (harmless) exploits like this in real life.

PS. BTW, for some players, limiting available cash in shops is a nuisance. Just like day-night cycles. Depends a bit on how realistic you want your game to be, methinks. DS.

If it breaks immersion for some players, then it does break immersion for those players, even if it doesn't affect me. Simple as that.

pibbur who thinks exploits, which he btw did not notice, should not be in Skyrim either.

It's an interesting question. How realistic should your artificial fantasy world be? No doubt different players have different answers to that question.

pibbur who is a bit puzzled by being angered by game features. May have something to do with his age, as he tends to be much more calm now than he used to. Still ….

Supports my image of "computer people" being obsessed with numbers. ;)

In Wikipedia, there does this bias exist, too. THe various minor version numbers of "important software", mainly Linux-related, is most detailed noticed, but on the other hand there is a total lack of the same level of detail in articles which are social-related.
