Dark Crystal Games is releasing Encased: A Sci-Fi Post-Apocalyptic RPG later today, and announced a Twitch stream with Prime Matter starting shortly after the release.

On Steam, the release is planned for 10:00 PST / 19:00 CEST / 20:00 MSK; no time has been given for the GOG platform but the timing is usually similar.

Release Day Stream with PRIME MATTER

Fellow C.R.O.N.U.S. Employees, supporters and viewers from outside the Dome,

It has been a long journey - from Kickstarter campaign to full release - but the all-important day is almost here! Tomorrow, Encased will leave early access and we will finally be able to welcome you to our complete vision of the Dome. Happy jitters are starting to set in!

But we aren't the only ones excited: In celebration, Prime Matter's very own Luci Verdalla will be streaming Encased tomorrow - here on Steam - and on Prime Matter Twitch channel.

Join us for an exciting few hours as Luci explores the Dome and tries her hand at a few of the unconventional ways to play the game.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Encased will release tomorrow at 10:00 PST / 19:00 CEST / 20:00 MSK
Stream Start: 10:30 PST / 19:30 CEST / 20:30 MSK

Yay! I probably won't be able to resist the temptation to give this a try for an hour or so tonight. This means we could now switch over to Encased if we should encounter some tiresome bug in PF:WotR, pretty sweet. ;)

I've put over 20 hours in Pathfinder: WotR, so I'll have to keep the momentum.
I didn't even touch Rainbow Six Siege since!

But Encased will be next, for sure. But I don't think I'll resist playing a couple hours, just to see how polished it is now.

After that, I'm looking forward to FarCry 6 (although the last previews cooled down my expectations), Disciples and Dying Light 2.

If Encased has bugs too, you can even fall back on ATOM if you want to finish / replay it before the next release ;)
All that is perfectly synchronized, I like it.

It's apparently released on GOG. At least, I can update it from the EA version (in which case it's a 12.7 GB download) :)

A little FAQ to read while it's loading ;)

Q: When will Encased be released?
A: Encased will be released in full September 7, 2021, at 10:00 PST / 19:00 CEST / 20:00 MSK

Q: Why didn’t you stick to your previous release date of December 2020?
A: Koch Media joined us as a publisher – that meant additional funding for cool new features, such as additional localisations, voice acting, etc. along with some further polishing and that does take some time.
We thank you for your patience and sincerely apologize to everyone who has been waiting for us. We hope to show you the benefits of this additional wait time in the full release.

Q: Which languages will Encased be released in?
A: In early access, Encased is available in Russian and English. The full release will feature English and Russian voice over, and text translation for Russian, English, German, French, Spanish, simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese and Japanese.

Q: If Encased is still in early access, why are you already selling DLCs?
A: The DLCs contain rewards for our Kickstarter backers. By popular demand, we wanted to make them available for our wider player base as well.

Q: What is the difference between the Early Access and the full version?
A: The full version will contain the second and third story chapters, multiple endings, more locations to explore, more quests, weapons, armor, perks, traits, NPCs and enemies. We’re also constantly tweaking game balance according to player feedback, so you can expect changes on that front too.

Q: How long will the full game be?
A: The main story will be about 40 hours long. For completionists, the full experience will be 60+ hours. Encased will be a lengthy, full-fledged RPG.

Q: Will there be a price difference between early access and final release?
A: Yes, there will most likely be a price difference – we will update you once we know more.

Q: Will my saved game from the early access version still be compatible with the final release?
A: No, unfortunately the addition of entire acts of story content and further side quests will make early access save games and the release version incompatible.

Q: Will the full version have co-op game play at some point?
A: Encased will be a single player only experience.

Q: Will the full version have more achievements than the early access version?
A: Yes, most of the planned achievements will be added with the final release.

Q: Why have you not resolved all the bugs that have been reported yet?
A: We are very grateful for anyone who has been reporting bugs and glitches to us! We update the early access version in larger chunks, less frequently. Just because a bug has not been removed yet, does not mean that your report has been ignored. It is more likely that it is being addressed in a later patch or the final version.

GOG downloads are usually larger. Look at Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher III for examples.

Nah, it's a reduced version on Steam :p

That's quite the difference! Maybe it's not the actual download size on GOG, but the final size after decompression.

Something neat on GOG, beside the fact we're not forced to update, is the ability to tell exactly where the downloaded items must be stored, and where the temporary directory is, for reconstruction. There were huge problems on both Steam & GOG with BG3 and people complained it took a very long time to install, because everything was on the same disk (and many still have HD). Or people with not enough SSD disk space.

Don't get me started with how much disk space is needed to install GOG games. I'm guessing it's coping and installing, but deletes the temp files when it's fully installed.

That didn't make it easier with BG3, which required some 70+ GB and was updated a few times after the EA. On top of that, it would fail sometimes, then you'd have to reinstall everything.

Thankfully they fixed a few things and it's much better since then.

I think I jinxed myself, after visiting the tower/museum I just ran into the "Space" won't pause the game anymore bug. Quite a hassle when you're playing RTwP...:-/

Beginning "Encased" installation...better do ATOM as well. ;)

Had that happen with some of the larger games and DLC as well.:(

Will be buying this week but not playing until after I get back from vacation next week at the earliest. $23.99 seems like a steal for this.
