Fallout: NV - Nuevo Mexico cancelled

I can't fault him for that. The scope was simply too massive; better to focus on something more realistic.

That's a pity. I have family ties to Mexico so I was interested in seeing what the Ciudad de México would look like after the apocalypse.

It wasn't going to take place in Mexico.

Very few of these larger total conversion mods ever seem to get finished.

I thought the same, but apparently it was despite the title making it sound like it was going to take place in New Mexico, the state.
Then apparently even some gaming journalists were thinking the same.

an ambitious Fallout: New Vegas mod that promised to turn players loose amidst the irradiated wasteland of New Mexico just five years after the events of the original Fallout, has been cancelled.

Mod takes (took) place in Mexico City, apparently.

Can't know for certain, but my take after reading the article isn't that he thought it was the state, but rather he was just saying "New Mexico", as in like, "New Vegas" or "New California". The article even talks about Mexico City being the main setting.

Considering it's literally the same name, I highly doubt that's what he meant. He'd have to be a pretty terrible journalist to not make the distinction.

It's PC Gamer though, so I suppose that's possible...

I edited it into my post later, but the article even mentions that the main setting is Mexico City later. So it's pretty likely that's what he meant.

Well, many shots in the trailer clearly show buildings and vista from Mexico City (Palacio de Bellas artes, Avenida Reforma, Torre Latinoamericana), so I assume that at least some of the story was meant to take place there.

I haven't followed the development closely, though.
