I'm looking for great games, rpg obviously. not the usual bethesda ones, generic like, or diablo like.
even though fairy tales and eschalon do share similarities, they have a bit more of strategy and tactic to them-
also, eschlon, imo is one of the best RPG's I've played in the past years. its still replayable. the story and immersion is that good.

dont need recommendations for these games:
-barlom
-avarnum or whatever their name is..with the avadon and another series.
-underrail
-divine divinity-OS
-pillars of Eternity
-Pathfinder kingmaker
-Atom RPG

I was also going to suggest Skald Against the Black Priory. Playing it at the moment. Great game.

Bluetooth list is pretty good.

thanks bluetooth, very comprehensive list. I've looked them all up, and updated the ones i already played.
however, I can play the book I of eschalon but something lower than that graphically is hard to me, as in these ultima like pixelated, is completely repulsive to me.
and also because i'm afraid i can't ID items well with the pixelated graphics, i have 32 inch screen 8/
I don't mind some pixel as long as it has some depth in it.

would love more suggestions.if possible

underrail is a game I only played when it was on early access. i should probably get back to it, had good memories of it.

What do you mean with "replayability"? Are you looking for lots of different recruitable characters that bring their own personality, or a diversity of possible party compositions? Maybe a branching storyline which you can explore differently each time you play the game?

I'm assuming you've already played all the Infinity Engine games. I'll give another vote to Solasta. It's a little light on story, but it has great combat and a vast amount of potential party combinations.

Also, if you enjoyed Pathfinder: Kingmaker, then Wrath of the Righteous is probably a no-brainer.

replayability means the gameplay is so good i want to replay the game again. which is what happens on your favourite games no?

I don't know - a lot of the games listed that i have played are either rouge like or play pretty much the same no matter how many times you play them. I'll go through the ones i've played:
divinity original sin - plays the same pretty much - yea you can try different heroes and whatever but the world is static the quests complete the same - same old same old (I think i played it 6 times; but never again).
under-rail - started but didn't play long (no map - which they have added) so no comments
brothers - rogue like game no story just endless combat.
tales of m - same as brothers but a lot more diversity - and i guess a game does have a real ending; not a bad game - sort of a graphic version of nethack on steriod - actually a pretty good game though a bit pricey - you could play dwarf fortress in the same vein - actually there must be 100 of similar games though i think dwarf fortress and tales of m (if you like it) are in the top 20.
pillars of eternity - played twice - mostly the same game - can pick or focus on different heroes with different skills.
atom - haven't played no comments
pathfinder - played about 1/2 of it - should restart - tough game if you build wrong - can't comment on replability but i suspect it is a far more complex game with regards to choices than the old black isle games or well most of the newer games i can think of - some have true branches (one of the dragon age i think) but even then it is mostly artificial - pathfinder seems to take things to a new level in that regards.
star-trader fronteir - kind of simplistic rogue game - ok if you like it but like all rogue game each game is both unique and the same.

Have you tried Might and Magic with the merge mod? There's also a new very good mod for the series available. M&M 6-8 never leave my HD. Try the Rev 4 mod for M&M7 it's brilliant!!

One of the best turn-based combat systems I know has Wizardry 8. The replayability is immense, as it has great strategic and tactical combat, fun classes that you can mix and match in lots of meaningful ways, great power progression, interesting enemies and encounter design. Definitely recomendable of you can look passed the serviceable but dated graphics (3D which looked already dated when the game was released in 2001).
The game is a bit too long though for real replayability as in "I directly want to start a new game" in my opinion (80-90 hours).

Great game, and yeah, it's long. I think 80-90 hours would be on the shorter end for Wiz 8. I don't remember how long my playthrough took me, and I can't check because it wasn't on Steam, but I know it was well over 100 hours.

played wizardy 8 for a while indeed. but besides dungeon master, or eye of the beholder 1 & 2 I couldn't get myself into the other 3d, legend of grimrock I finished the first one... I rather play isometric. I'm too old, for this cumbersome camera angles.
that's why i can't even play baldur's gate 3. its just way too complex too many characters, too many stuff going on. all these new RPG's suffer from that. nothing is simple and let's you learn and explore on the way. like the games i've mentioned. yes wizardy and M&M are good as well. M&M is more strategy than actual plot of RPG gameplay.

thanks for the recommendations thus far. i'm still looking.

been playing abit of Skald and am impressed. of also how terriblke the pixel graphic, but the gameplay is indeed quite good , and nostalgic.

Yea - i've played it too many times; be sure to install the 'speed up combat' patch else you will hate yourself. The biggest problem is the map never change though you can do a few things in different order. It does have an occasional clipping error but for a game that was never supported it is amazingly bug free on release. There are (or were) a few total make over but they seemed clumsy at best - they involved changing the data set since the game itself is not really mod friendly. A few of them do 'binary' patches.

For a game that is 20+ years old it as aged extremely well and shows you how crappy a lot of games UI are these days.

Do yourself a huge favour and play Wizardry six, seven and eight in order. It'll keep you busy for months and it enhances the overall experience more than I can explain. Or if time is an issue, do play eight.

That probably depends on how much experience you already have with the game. My last playthrough took me less than 80 hours according to GOG Galaxy, but it was my sixth (?) playthrough, which means that I took more or less the quickest route, placing portals at the most useful places etc..

And @notdart: the UI is indeed still extremely good.

With the talk of Wizardry 8 I'd suggest having a look here https://mega.nz/folder/sNh2nCiT#Q2oN-od1-QRLaPCfXykS8w

The game has a lot of charm but loads of flaws, the mods in there help alleviate some of them. Wiz8Fast speeds up combat movement and the Merchants mod also helps there by speeding up projectiles, though it also makes a bunch of other welcome changes from its readme.

There's also a guide which is more like a wiki-info dump than just a walkthrough. And 13 pre made character for people new to the game who don't want to have to research every skill, class, race etc just to make a party or character that doesn't suck.

The biggest single problem with the game is that it's so damned slow, I remember being well into the game and giving up and deleting it when I got into a fight that lasted over an hour.
