General News - Games like Might & Magic and Wizardy @ Wizard Worm

Starcrawlers and Operencia were quite good as well - although I found the latter to be a bit puzzle-heavy. I am looking forward to the above games greatly; hopefully they aren't vaporware.

I didn't care for Operencia, but I agree about StarCrawlers. Fun combat, and it's one of the very few blobbers in a sci-fi setting. I'd like to see something similar but completely hand-crafted and with a deeper narrative.

A Quest That Became Legend devs desperately need a UI text color design.
ArchQuest and Archaelund looks promising, probably because they both begin with AAARRCH! Aledorn is so large it won't ever get finished. :)

Is that Vaporum game (and it's sequel) any good? I've been thinking about buying it for awhile but wondered if we have any fans here?

Legendary Journeys is a deep, well executed attempt at a blobber that has seen minimal interest or sales from the supposed RPG community. I feel sorry for the guy who has spent 5 years of his life working every spare minute for a game that will likely sell less than 1000 copies. He's burnt out now, imo, and just doing his best to finish but I can't imagine him doing it again. I've given 300 hours of my life just helping him balance and test. People expect an M&M or Wizardry and the indie guy can't match a studio of specialists that made those games. I've tried to help some of these indie guys see the light of day but haven't had any luck.

I guess it is a chicken or egg problem to some extent. Some of us are generally unwilling to buy unfinished games, since there is a good chance they will remain unfinished. The bargain between developer and purchaser used to be that the developer would release a fully finished game, and then the purchaser would decide if they wanted to take a risk that they would like it or not. I personally wish that was still the world we lived in, with no Early Access, and no 2 hour 2 week refunds from steam either. I'm sure I will buy legendary journeys once it is finished and has good reviews, and probably not before then (although I will buy indie games with only a few good reviews, so long as the game is finished). Anyway, not to say my way is the only way or the right way, but there may be other people who buy the way I do.

Hey I ignore 95% of blobbers and almost all TB games in general, so I'm with you. This one just happened to be decent enough to catch my attention. I'm sure this guy won't make enough to ever do another game so this is a one off assuming it gets released at all. I would have burned out and given up long ago.

I know it's an old thread, but I'm in the same situation. I'm still playing M&MVII. It seems like there are more people than we realize that want these types of games. And I really hate the new games being 10gigs to 40+gigs. I think the M&MVII looks great and it fit on 2 CD's. The new ones don't look much better and they're huge!
Can they not just steal the Wizardry8 engine and make a new game with it? Sirtech is long dead anyway. :)

I downloaded the LEGENDARY JOURNEYS demo. It doesn't look too bad, but I don't ike the default keyboard setup.

Yes, that's actually wat got me searching for games like that. I did not find a demo for it though. I'm happy to buy these types of games. I've been playing M&M 6-8 & X for decades, so it's money well spent.
I sometimes play M&MVII with 1 character. I drown the other 3 at the start of the game. :)

Yeah, the UI is somewhat lacking in Legendary Journeys, but I don't think we can expect a perfect game at that price point.

A Quest That Became Legend looks significantly more polished. Hopefully that one gets a demo too because I'd like to try it.

But the thing is, if you're going to do it, do it right. They just need to play M&MVII and go from that. The movement speed is too slow and I can't figure out how to speed it up. I want to read my characters skills, but you can't find it in any of the tabs.
I'm down in the lava thing and and you have no reference on how to get out of the place. I just found it by luck. The overland map is poor. The writing is blurry on the map and it's hard to tell direction.
The font type and size in the character creation screen is crap. They have so much room, make them bigger!!! I'm 58 years old!!!
