Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods - Developer Revealed

Wrong openion about Indians

You all have the wrong openion abt Indians & thus are capability to produce games.

I have worked on GFG & yes it is Genome based.

We had to work our asses off just to get it right in genome. G3 its self had so many bugs to solve & then build over.

I just hop u guys like what we have done in GFG, other unreleased games made by Trine are "Wings Of Control", "Streets Of Mumbai" & Legends of Great India.

cheers!!

I have every respect for Indians, especially for you IT people. But how would you feel about a German team making the sequel to your "legends of Great India" game? Some games have a strong base in local sensibilities, and Gothic has a very strong "European", I would even say German, vibe. Not sure this can be preserved through the outsourcing process

I couldn't care less where a game comes from, as long as it's good. I've played games from Japan, Poland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, England, France, USA, China, Russia and so on and so forth, and soon I'll be getting G3:FG - a game from India.

I see absoluttely no reason why a developer team in India should be any less competent than one from Japan, Russia, Germany or the US.

However, as Cyber pointed out - the code behind Gothic 3 was a mess, and for any team (no matter how talented) to fix that, is bound to be extremely difficult. I'd be very impressed if this turns out great, as that would be quite a technical achievement.

I've played and enjoyed games from all over the world, so I've got no problem with it. That said, it takes some time for things to mature. I'm generalising - there are always exceptions - but it's taken a while for German producers to really understand the demands of the international market, for example.

We'll see. Best of luck.

That's my concern as well. I would be just as skeptical if it was an American team making G3FG. (Or a German team making Bioshock 2, for that matter.)
