Not really new as it was hinted a few months back in the news.

Though now it's officially announced with images and a short trailer.

I hope the real-time combat shown at the end of the clip was just an in-game sequence.

If it's actual gameplay, congrats to those who would enjoy it, but it's almost certainly a pass for me.

On the Steam page they refer to "tense survival horror" combat... so I've got a (bad) feeling that was in fact actual gameplay.

Yeah, that's why I said what I said above. I'm a big fan of survival-horror, but this doesn't look like something I'd want to play.

I'm not against real-time combat, but Horror isn't effective to me with a zoomed-out isometric view like that.

For most fans of Harebrained Schemes though, I imagine the disappointment will be more about it being real-time and a single character instead of a party.

- Awful music in trailer.
- Action izo combat.
- It looks a lot like Stasis or Cayne. Except that is has shooting mechanics.
- I dont expect it will have many RPG elements.

Hopefully it will attract some horror fans and help them return to RPGs in the future.

Once again TB elitists comment on how they hate ARPGs. :rotfl:

Oh well I'm intrigued by what I've seen. 🤷‍♂️

Also yeah looks like an action combat version of Stasis.

Sure, I prefer TB, but I'm not opposed to playing an action RPG if it has a compelling story and characters like The Witcher and Kingdom Come. It just seems like an odd / risky move for HB to make an action oriented game when their successful past games were all TB.

Of course, they can make whatever game they want. I'm just not sure this will be something I want to buy. The basic premise does seem interesting, so I haven't written it off entirely.

Exactly. It makes me wonder if they're doing this for a shorter development cycle. This seems more basic than their past games, and maybe that's by choice to get it out the door faster. The Lamplighters League didn't sell very well, and maybe they need the money.

Well, I like the music and the new logo, but that's really about it. Does the grafting mean you can graft parts of the defeated enemies to yourself?

Apparently yes. From the Steam page..

TRANSFORM TO SURVIVE

Your changing body is your most powerful weapon. Augment it with Grafts and build out your abilities according to your own strategies. Each Graft you rip from a fallen foe or find hidden in the recesses of the Arc is one more deadly tool in your expanding arsenal.

But there’s a catch, every Graft carries with it some small piece of its previous owner… and now they are a part of you.

A METAMORPHOSIS OF SELF

With each Graft, strange cravings and half-glimpsed memories flood your system. Now you remember the hot breath of a lover you never touched. Now you find yourself suddenly obsessing over cruel and sadistic impulses. Now you remember the monotony of an endless solitary confinement.

You must choose what each of these fragments means to you, and you must live with the consequences of each choice.

Who, or what, will you be when you escape?
It's kind of vague but seems interesting at least.

Also @Zloth you deserve a cookie as you claimed it would be a cyberpunk grafting game. Can't remmember the setting you named, but man you were correct.:cookie:

Hmm...maybe it was someone else's though as I can't find that older thread.

No cookie for me. I was suggesting a cyberpunk plus magic game. I'll settle for some black licorice I've got sitting here. (And it's from Australia! Everyone knows Australians make the best black licorice! ;))

The gameplay (and a little bit the settings) looks like The Ascent to me.
If they put in co-op campaign then that would be interesting.

The setting reminds me of Encased. That aside i can live with real time if they will add a pause function to make some tactical decisions in combat.
I'm going to buy it to kept HBS going, i don't think that they can afford another Paradox like debacle like Lamplighters anymore. (And i also hope for a BATTLETECH 2 in the future.... curse you Paradox, you had the chance!)

HBS is not owned by Paradox anymore so you can't blame them this time. 🤷‍♂️

I think that he can. Paradox should already fund Battletech 2. :)
