I don't understand this announcement. The pre-orders were open months ago, including this pre-order bonus content.

I really dislike the practice of carving out quests, for certain editions of the game.

I hope they at least have a different approach than KCD1 for these extra/dlc quests. I really didn't like how they directly mark the dlc quests on the maps.
For a game that's amazingly good at building immersion that quest marker was kind of bad.

I also hope they will sell it on GOG on release date, but maybe they're gonna wait a while? Was the original sold on GOG from the get-go? I suppose so, since it was kick-started, right?

I really dislike preorder bonuses, especially when they vary depending on the platform you choose to buy the game on.

Why should someone paying full price on release day miss out on content just because they didn’t preorder or chose a different platform? It’s unfair, anti-consumer, and takes away from the enjoyment of the game. Some might argue, "It's just a bonus, it doesn’t affect the main quest," but that doesn’t change the fact that this is content already included in the game files, intentionally locked away from full-paying customers.

This practice prioritizes short-term profits over player satisfaction, using fear of missing out to squeeze a little extra revenue. Instead of rewarding loyal players, it divides the community and creates unnecessary confusion about what content is included.

Developers should focus on delivering a complete and enjoyable experience for everyone, rather than locking content behind preorders or offering exclusive content tied to specific platforms.

What's not to understand it's a reminder to preorder. Yes it was announced months ago but with the release next month late buyers will not get it free.

You'll have to buy it if you don't pre-order that's the whole point of the update.

I don't pre-order anymore yet have no qualms about rewarding those that do. Heck, it's better than watching a game languish in early access for years or longer....

Yep, exactly.
I'm unsure what to do now. I don't want to miss the quest, but I don't want to support this shady behaviour.

Na, that's one of the few games that's a day 1 purchase for me.

I'm so used to publishers doing this that it doesn't really bother me at this point. You have to expect that most major releases now are going to have some kind of preorder bonus.

I'll just pre-order only 1 day before release. That will show them!

I just noticed that it's surprisingly cheap. The base game and season pass (3 future DLCs) is cheaper than Civ 7. Warhorse has not increased their pricing it seems.

Where can I buy the base game and season pass (3 future DLCs) cheaper than Civ 7?
On Steam it's €79,99 for the Gold Edition while Civ 7 is for €69,99.

The "complete" edition of Civ 7 is 130 euros. So, yeah, the complete version of KCD2 is cheapter. :D
On a slight side-note, how the hell did Civ7 get to 130 for the full thing? Is this the most expensive digital-only complete edition for any game?
Also will that 130 edition actually contain all future content they release? Or will they also do the multiple annual season pass, which is separate?

I understand they wanted to remind it, what I find odd is how they worded it. As if the pre-orders started now.

But maybe it's my misundertanding, english isn't my first language. "Thrilled" to "announce" pre-orders "are now open". Meh...

So I wanted to pre-order on GOG. Doesn't seem to be possible. The game is still only "coming soon". Does anyone know how GOG will handle this?

Probably because there's no exact release date for the GOG version yet. They're just saying "Spring".
