Eurogamer woke up in a bad mood today. 2/5 for Civ 7, 3/5 for KCD2.

I skimmed the KCD2 review and it sounds much more like it wasn't her thing than it being in any way a bad (or even average) game.

I'm not a big fan of Civ to begin with, but on paper I hate pretty much everything they've changed with this iteration. I won't be getting that one.

89 meta score isn't bad and around what I expected/hoped for. Congratulations Warhorse!

Civilization 7 is sounding like something I will not enjoy. I'm not surprised though as after the fourth game they kept changing to many systems, and altering the formula.

Anyway back on topic most scores are good except for the same usual sites. 🤷‍♂️

I also found this to be funny as well but given what the site has done not surprising.
More reviews are shared on my forum thread.

Just right for Polygon. They'd deserve to get their copy when it's published and even then pay for it. A rubbish journal.

Yey! Having read a couple of the reviews, I am happy. It appears just the game I was expecting for! Can't wait to play it, but having learned from the past, I'll wait a few months before touching it.

I know they used 'Return to Form' as a joke, but I’m so tired of that overused phrase.

I got the Gold Edition, but like with the first one, I’ll have to wait for a save mod before playing. Hopefully, it won’t take too long

Mortismal doing a 100% run is surprising. The game is supposed to take 100 hours—did he just skip sleeping?

So long ago? Most games nowadays release a huge day-one patch, so I figured the review copies must still be pretty buggy.

I always thought reviewers received their copies about a week before release to avoid that.

yes it was a month i think normally it's less yes...

Some of them said that things could change and that they had a few bugs saying they would get fixed in day one patch, if you believe that. Sadly it's all part of access journalism nowadays so it's hard to trust youtube reviews.

That's why i don't so much lisen but more watch with my eyes.

Most of what i have seen no one even mentions or reviews combat for some reason. At best they stick to skills that you can unlock. Clearly combat is still the weakest part of the game.

He's infamous for having a very fluid definition for "100%"

But also like Dolby said, Warhorse gave out keys quite a while ago.
What do you mean by fluid? My understanding is he gets all the achievements, which is more than I do on any game...

You still have to be impressed that they actually released and allow reviews to be posted PRIOR to actual release of the game - when is the last time that happened. Certianly most of EA crap requires the game to be availalbe for sale prior to actual review release.

Holy cow, the wokeness dicussion is going on in full force also for this game.
Perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned that. But I just can't comprehend why people are so obsessed with it. Just play the damn game or don't.

Can you remind me about what they have done?
Hit piece articles for both games and bad reviews. The developer even had to respond to the false information. If you want early review copies that's not the way to get them.

They even disabled comments over the issue it seems.

Apparently, there is gay romance for the main character and some flirting/fraternization with black people. I don't know many details because I intend to play the game at some point and I want to keep spoiler-free, but I'm grabbing some popcorn, this turn of events is too precious to pass on.

And less.

Depends on the game, but there are lots of RPGs in which getting all the achievements won't mean anything close to doing all the quests.

Thus: fluid. If achievements is what he uses to measure completeness, there's barely a game out there that he will have actually done 100% of the content.

This sounds a bit silly.

Pretty much every game these days has a gay romance option as they should if romances are a part of the game (something I typically don't really care for). The only thing that matters is that the player should be given full agency on whether the romance actually happens or not. If the player gets misled or forced into a romance type they are uncomfortable with then that is a fundamental deisgn issue. It should be the player choosing an option like "I like you more than a friend" not constantly getting hit on by the wrong gender when you do absolutely nothing to warrant that attention.

Well the usual bigot bombing isn't working so far, the game is #1 on Steam selling charts and so far getting pretty good reviews, despite the first two pages of the Steam forums being about wokeness and gayness.

I don't know how so many people are reviewing a game that's not playable yet, but I guess we'll see in the coming days when more people can get their hands on it.
