In late 2003 the adventure game Uru: Ages Beyond Myst was released by Ubisoft. It was meant to have both a singleplayer and a multiplayer portion, but due to a lack of subscribers the online portion was quickly closed. Cyan Worlds, the company that had originally developed Uru: Ages Beyond Myst, released in 2007 in cooperation with the online service GameTap an altered version of the multiplayer portion under the name of Myst Online: Uru Live.
The gameplay revolves around solving puzzles with other players. The game also has a strong emphasis on story to the extent where it is even possible for players to affect the direction of the story.
In early 2008 Myst Online: URU Live was discontinued.
