Neverwinter Nights: EE - Patch 89.8193.37-13

This game gets so much love after so many years it’s awesome.

Lots to look into with this game so I’ll try to get to it again this year.

It’d be so cool if we had a new RPG with this great of tools and support but it’s like lightning in a bottle. One can hope and dream…

Two things on that comment

Rob Bartel has been talking about getting into development again and has downloaded GoDot. He recently gave an AMA on Reddit what his plans were for the Witch's Wake chapters 2-9 (I thought he originally said 10) and why it got cancelled.

(did we cover this?)

The development volunteers, clippy, Daz, Jasperre, niv, shadguy, Soren, tinygiant, and virusman, have stated that they are trying to expand the engine to allow for different kinds of games to be made with it. Notably, the NUI and targeting mode they added goes a long way towards that.

Yeah the patch numbering is quite hilarious. :rotfl:

Despite that I replay the campaigns and various mods almost 20 years later.

No other game has gotten more attention from me.

I haven't played it in ages, but it's cool to see it still chugging along and being supported. There's been nothing else quite like it since, as far as an isometric rpg with strong mod support and a robust action toolset.

True it seems IP and other copyright laws force developers to not release another game like NWN 1 and 2. I had hopes BG3 would have the same tools but alas it did not.

The tools were cracked though but it wont be easy to make campaign mods.

Personally I'm waiting for patch 90.997725.22344-2_2434 cubed.

The 89 is supposed to be the actual patch number
The 8193 is supposed to the build number - and any 8193.x should let you play on any server running an 8193.x
.37 was the iteration number and became the build/patch number but now they've added -14 to the iteration of the patch.
So weird. Next patch will probably be numbered .38-x barring any more hotfixes for .37

There appears to be an industry wide belief to never make another game like NWN again. If they add modding then they limit it.
Maybe they don't want to lose control of the game or IP built from it like DotA or PUBG.
