@DSOGaming they report that NieR Automata will be simultaneously released March 7th on PC and PS4.

PCGamer has revealed that NieR: Automata will be coming on the PC/Steam on March 7th. In addition, Square Enix released a new trailer for NieR: Automata that can be viewed below.

As PCGamer claimed, a Square Enix rep has confirmed that the PC release date will be the same as the PS4 date in the west. This basically means that NieR: Automata will be released on Steam on March 7th in North America and on March 10th in Europe and Australia.

NieR: Automata is an RPG tells the story of androids 2B, 9S and A2 and their battle to reclaim a machine-driven dystopia overrun by powerful weapons known as machine lifeforms.

More information.

This could be potential sleeper hit of 2017, but this seems made to drive away players. Another good move from Enix.

So, what was the point of that trailer? That trailer sure doesn't have me excited for the game. Isn't that the point of trailers?

It was a bit of a anime special wasn't it. :[

I'm not sure what they were going for either but news is news.

Heh, Nier, how I love you.
Seriously: the original was one of my most pleasant surprises of my 30+ ys gaming career. Bought on the cheap and immediately loved from the get go.

I'm a bit worried about the sequel: PlatinumGames is great (the folks behind the wickedy fun Bayonetta) - but they are more or less action game experts. On the other hand, the original Nier was a "best of" of game genres: it had action RPG, it had survivial horror, it had bullet hell shooter -- heck, it even had text adventure! The charm was the feeling of genuinely not knowing what happens next in story AND gameplay.

So, hopefully the sequel won't be a super slick straight action game (á la Metal Gear: Revengeance), but the same risky, quirky, gritty, charming experiment the original was.
