Well it has to be one of the longest Pre-Early Access games I've ever seen.

As it's been in the news for more then a decade already. :rotfl:

Yeah, I'm not familiar with the game myself, but a quick search turned up this.

Look at the date.

People who enjoyed early MMOs like EQ seem to be enjoying it and there are many positive reviews. I'm hesitant to get it but I am very tempted. It's been a crazy 10 years and they changed the graphics a year ago. I donated to the failed Kickstarter 10 years ago.

I've been involved with this one even before the kick starter, yet it's changed so much that it's hard to recognize now, save some of the early areas. I've not played it in almost two years, now.

It’s been in alpha or “pre-alpha” testing for a couple years. Early access isn’t even that early anymore

Yep certain backers have been testing builds for at least eight years already.

It looks really dated, and I don't even care that much about graphics. :/

It does, but it's currently hovering around 80% positive on Steam which I found surprising. I can't pretend to know what MMO fans value though since I've never been much into the genre myself.

It's a niche audience for an MMO. It's being made for old EQ fans, and most of the content involves grouping. There are also harsh death penalties and corpse runs. It has slow leveling and item camping with no instancing.

Indeed, if you enjoyed the original Everquest, Pantheon is likely something you'd like, assuming MMO's are what you're looking for. Even with some of the changes that I wasn't keen about, it's got that tough, original EQ vibe to it in many areas.

I enjoyed Vanguard in all its broken glory. At least for a while.

This game seems intriguing but it I will likely not play it until I retire in 30 years or so. Then I'll have time to game 24/7 again and actually progress in this type of game. 😜
