Why we (computer people) will never be out of work:

pibbuR who wonders what comes after 2038

PS: In 2054 we (Norway) will run out of available national id-numbers (birth numbers) DS.

What's the 2038 bug?
We're hitting the limit of 32-bit numbers IIRC (for date & time representation - again).

EDIT: after a quick calculation: this limit is reached when using signed integers, 32 bits should otherwise last until 2106. So I guess that some systems will make it, and others won't. Many languages don't bother to offer unsigned integers. 😶
(the sign takes 1 bit, that leaves 31 bits, 2^31 seconds is about 68 years, and the reference is in 1970).
The systems using signed integers will think they're suddenly back in 1902. :D

Basically sounds exactly like the y2k bug. Probably just needs some minor adjustments for most systems I assume...

Couch! Better get used to it. Things like these are never over!
Thank God!

I came across this and it reminded me of someone who used to be here :)

Sigh I miss her. Wonder if she lurks on the site now? Anyway after getting insulted twice with swear words that tells you this site needs better moderation. Eye come back.

I absolutely LOVE having these spontaneous thoughts ! ^^ :

What it says :
A new version of windows is ready for installation.

What it means :
A new version of windows is ready for escalation.
