Rogue Trader got a new patch:

Hotfix 1.2.1.10 is live!

Lord Captains! We are deploying a hotfix to deal with a few annoying issues discovered by the community over the days since release of the Void Shadows DLC.

Consoles will receive the same update within 24 hours.

Note that https://steamcommunity.com/app/2186680/discussions/0/4027970580228219058/ always contains up-to-date information on known issues and the roadmap of upcoming patches.

Patch Notes

  • Some space battles could become stuck after defeating all enemies - fixed;
  • Abilities in space combat could become unavailable after the first use - fixed;
  • In rare cases, UI in space combat could disappear - fixed;
  • The main enemy of the battle in Astropathic Chapel refused to die if the difficulty was set to Custom and NPC stat modifiers were set below a certain threshold - fixed;
  • Since the last update, the player could experience severe lag when using some abilities such as burst attacks - fixed;
  • The main menu button “Continue” used to ignore the existence of Grim Darkness saves, forcing the player to load game manually through the Load Game menu - fixed, now continuing the game is possible as normal;
  • Making four incorrect choices in quest no longer causes all party members to instantly die (which caused a Grim Darkness game over), only inflicting damage and trauma instead;
Thanks Couchpotato!

I'm about halfway through Chapter 2 and really kind of bored. Leveling every 5 minutes and having to pick between:

"Maybe 12 times for the rest of the game this exact scenario will occur and you will get 3 damage for 1 round"

VS

"If you are 2 squares away from a guy wearing black pants, you will suffer -1 damage, but only on Tuesday"

...type of crap. Does this game get any better? It's unfortunate as WOTR was amazing, this is boring. Also the 40k uni is just so dreary. That can't be helped, but if the story gets better, I'll stick it out.

What build are you? Just wondering so I don’t pick the same one when I play lol ;)

No, it doesn't get any better. I got tired of leveling after every 1-3 battles as well. And items are always like what you said - there is no clear upgrades, only items more useful for specific build/situation.

I didn't find the story get better, I'd say act 2 is the best out of the lot. So if you are bored in act 2, then no, it will only get worse.

Every class/build is like that. I heard the new archetype (class) introduced with the DLC1 is fun but I think it comes with the DLC.

Yeah its quite boring, i think for me this was the most disappointing from all the games i played this year, some part is my fault since both Pathfinder were incredible so i had hopes and got hyped. And they put that atrocious space fighting as well. I hope they get back to fantasy after this one.

Still haven't had time to play the DLC, but looking forward to it.

Rogue Trader Owlcat's best game so far from the gameplay and storytelling point of view, so as soon as my schedule clears up a bit I'll be looking to increase those 400 hours played so far.

For now, glad to see that for once I'm not beta testing it and the bugs are being ironed out over time.:D

The combat mechanics were a bit much for me so I played on an easier mode and focused on the story, atmosphere, lore, companions, and exploring all of which I really enjoyed. My main was a soldier with biomancer abilities which I really enjoyed. Sort of a glass DPS melee while Abe was my main bro and tank.

I focused combat around abilities that were straight forward, more passive or automatic, so I didn't have to figure things out, and that helped me with all the "black pants 1 square away but only on Tuesday" mechanics which I thought aptly descried my own feelings towards some of the mechanics. But then I am not big on tactical combat.

I got a little over 200 hours in when I finished, got the ending I really wanted so was happy about that, and got my money's worth. I may play again since the DLC is out but right now I have too many other games I am working on.

The ending maze part kills the game for me. You end up fighting way to much.

Though an update talked about editing, and fixing that problem.

Still working my way through Worldwound, but Rogue Trader will be next. As it seems opinions are kinda divided on RT, I really hope I will end up in the positive crowd. Really want to like it :)

Thank You All for the heads up! I had really high hopes for this one. But seeing this will be just a waste of time, compared to the godly The Last Spell and the Fantastic-Amazing Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga, I deleted the bookmark of poor botched Rogue Trader. R.I.P.!!!

It's possibly the weakest part of the game, I agree. Owlcat tend to overload the latest end of their games with beefed up HP sponge encounters, I had some trouble to finish both Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous too, because of the same reasons.

It doesn't quite kill the games for me, but it does make them lose a bit of the grandeur right at the last heartbeat.

Well the whole game had to much combat. Just play the first chapter. It became nothing but battle after battle. That's not what I look for in my RPGs. It's just boring.

I mean, if it's boring to you, I understand you didn't enjoy it that much. I imagine you'd love for the game to be fun to you, so that you could enjoy it the way some of us did, can't imagine you're choosing to be bored and locking yourself out of hundreds of hours of fun for no reason. Games like Rogue Trader are capable of building life-long good feelings and memories for those who get into them.

It's unfortunate, but luckily there are plenty of other games to appeal different types of players.

Didn't say the game was bad just one battle after another.

View: https://www.reddit.com/r/RogueTraderCRPG/comments/18gl9g2/too_much_combat/

As every new area had a battle that lasted twenty minutes or more. I wonder if this what happens when large isometric RPGs go fully TB. As they need filler to raise your levels.

The last two Pathfinder RPGs were fine. As I played them in RTwP.

Anyway I love the IP but the excessive amount of battles ruins the fun.

Its on sale now but i think it will be in a humble choice soon; looking now at the steam page, its hilarious, Void dlc is more expensive than the season pass which has Void dlc and other dlcs

You need to play Torment: Tides of Numenera for a while to balance it out. :)

Already have and loved it as it focused on the narrative not just combat.

It didn't sell well though and opinions are very mixed.

Was about to buy the game given the fact it's on sale at the moment.... But reading the comments here changed my mind.

Thanks for the 35$, all.
