Watch the latest trailer here:

SpellForce: Conquest of Eo offers a unique and engaging gameplay experience by combining elements of 4X strategy games, RPGs, and turn-based tactical combat. The mobile base of operations - your mage's tower - and depleting resources keep players constantly moving, preventing the stagnation that can occur in the late-game of other 4X games. Instead, the game focuses on the thrill of discovery and danger of early gameplay, while also allowing for research and experimentation to improve units as they level up and acquire new equipment and abilities. With a wealth of procedurally generated adventures and RPG elements, SpellForce: Conquest of Eo transforms the classic RTS-RPG mix into a turn-based 4X RPG experience that is sure to keep players engaged.

Wow, a couple of great news in a short span: first the revelation of Age of Wonders 4 coming in May, then EO being ready in early February. Great starting for gaming this year(y)

I'm looking forward to this. It seems they've given a fair bit of thought to trying to keep late-stage gameplay fresh (unlike many other 4x games). Depleting finite resources in your current area and having to move your wizard's tower to a new location sounds interesting. It could make for some great tension late game as resource-laden locations become scarce.

Seems like they're combining a bunch of neat genres together, I hope they can pull it off successfully. I'll be watching here to think what earlier purchasers think.

They did it right the other 3 times.
I don't think this is the same team that worked on the other Spellforce games. In fact, I think the studio that did Spellforce 3 is different from the one that made the earlier titles.

I feel a little bad for the people behind this game. Age of Wonders 4 is bound to steal its thunder, as a better established franchise in the same niche subgenre. Wouldn't surprise me if that influenced their decision to release so soon. Take advantage of all those would-be AoW4 players looking for something to keep them busy until May, rather than disappear under the other game's shadow after it comes out.

This is actually the fourth or fifth SpellForce developer. For the record this is a spin-off and not the same as the classic formula. I seriously hope this is not the series future direction.

As a 4x fan who will be playing the game I prefer the RTS/RPG hybrids better.

Well once again all three Spellforce 3 were developed by Grimlore Games. SpellForce: Conquest of Eo was developed by Owned by Gravity. Maker of Fantasy General 2.
