Well that's a well known JRPG trope, and the style will never change. Just look at it as Eastern vs Western art style. For many in Japan games used to be just for kids as well.

I should have said "Star Ocean games in the current decade". I've never liked the series, it's true, but the past couple have been bottom of the barrel, and the trailers for this upcoming game are almost unbelievably bad. IMO there's no reason to play them unless you just play all JRPGs. There are fans like that in all areas of media.
I doubt that this is aimed at kids.
Should I have said kids to teenagers instead. I shared a link many times that explains why the protagonists are always young in JRPGs. Guess I'll have to find that link again.
