The ever-popular "Currently Listening" thread

I'd rather go this direction (do I get bonus points for a double play?)
Only if you post it again on sunday ;-)

For wednesday I have to cheat, this is from the album "Wednesday morning, 3am"
Simon & Garfunkel - The sound of silence

Listened through "Raw", the last album of the original ZZ Top band.
It really is as raw as it can get. Very good stuff, if you like that kind of raw blues sound.

Recently, I was suggested listening to Rachmaniov's Symphony Number 2, to better get into "classical orchestral music", as I call it.
I have heard it only once so far (certain kinds of music force the listener to consciously listen to the music), but I found already that it ... kind of sounds like a orchestral movie soundtrack to me. Of course that is no good decription of this kind of work, but solely regarding my own taste of music, I found now why I like this kind of music - especially "soundtrack music" like by John Williams - so much.
I need to listen more often consciously through it, in order to appreciate the composer's work.

The last two afternoon I've spent listening to the best of George Harrison. One of the best writers/performers of my lifetime, I don't believe he ever did a song that I didn't like. Cheer Down never fails to lift my spirits!

What a strange coincidence: today I had my lunch at a takeaway and while I was waiting for my meal they played this one:
Frank Sinantra - Strangers in the night

This evenig I spend time on the internet and have my music collection on shuffle-play in the background and the very same song is played (out of >10.000 songs).

The funny thing is: I don't even like the song too much

I'm at a folk festival in the Netherlands right now (Castlefest), although sadly only virtually. Anyway, these guys came on and they were fantastic. Great energy.

I listened to a concert today featuring the Pixies, from a little over a week ago, captured while they were performing at Rockapalast. Still awesome, still relevant, one of the very best bands of all time!

I wasn't into that music in my youth, I was more a Deep Purple/Black Sabbath/Velvet Underground bloke, yet everything I've read about her seems to say she was talented and extremely nice. RIP.

It's not really my kind of music either, but I think it's a great song and an iconic movie scene.

Olivia Newton John is who made it great though. She really carried it despite John Travolta's mediocre vocals.
