No thread for this yet?

So far I've been concentrating on volleyball (I played volleyball in my youth, at a somewhat lesser level). The first match, between Germany and Japan was a thriller, with Germany winning the game 3-2. But in general I prefer the women's matches. Men are too strong, so exchanges tend to be quite short (serve, attack and winning the serve ...). So mostly it's about admiring their technique, their high jumping and powerful spikes. Female matches are more exciting. Not as powerful, but longer exchanges makes it more interesting.

At the moment I'm watching Italy vs the Dominical republic. Good match, but what suprises me is the fairly elementary faults by the Dominican teams, such as rotation errors and illegal touches of the ball. Rarely see that in international volleyball.

pibbuR who regrets he's now too old for senior volleyball, and there's no senior senior volleyball around here.

PS. The reason given above for preferring female volleyball is (honest!) the only reason. I don't watch beach volleyball. DS.

Their 'AC Unity' intro was original, but I'm usually not watching the Olympic Games more than occasionally.
Didn't see that. Apparently there was a drag show too? Over here, a lot of people are talking about that and making a big deal about it.

One of the people carrying the torch looked like a cosplay of the assassin and went into all sort of places like rooftops, Le Louvre, sewers, etc. I only saw bits of it because the whole opening is very long (the video I saw was more than 4-hour long). I didn't see the drag show.
