Unveiling Dark Isometric Tactical RPG The Royal Office of Magick Affairs – Overview

A secret office tasked with investigating paranormal and magical phenomena, staffed by inventors and exorcists ready to dive into eldritch artifacts and mysterious creatures. Let me preface by saying that information about The Royal Office of Magick Affairs, a dark isometric RPG set in Victorian London, is still quite limited.

What I do know is that the game is being developed by the Swedish indie studio Allvis STHLM. It’s a tactical RPG featuring what looks like a gridless turn-based combat system. It promises a fascinating blend of magic, Victorian technology, and weapons.

It’s fascinating that every murder or enemy killed in the game feeds the underlying “evil,” making it crucial to approach situations differently. For example, using characters with Authority skills can resolve conflicts without bloodshed. Alternatively, you can leverage diplomatic abilities or opt for a stealthy approach to navigate certain scenarios. This pushes you to think beyond just combat and consider the broader consequences of your actions.

There’s also a strategic layer centered around base management, though how deep it will be remains to be seen. This aspect could add significant depth to the gameplay, offering opportunities for resource allocation, upgrades, and long-term planning. This includes recruiting new specialists, maintaining relationships with the various factions in the game world, and striving to keep conflict as a last resort in order to remain in the shadows.

Each agent will be well-defined and distinct, featuring unique traits and perks, strengths, and personal traumas to confront. Their progression doesn’t seem to be tied to a specific class but rather to a free-form skill tree.

It seems like a fairly standard crpg to me. Party-based with turn-based combat and a base. The dark Victorian setting looks cool, though the graphics appear a little rough from a technical standpoint.
