A Kickstarter campaign for The Sinking City 2 will start on March 6:

The Sinking City 2

The Sinking City 2 is a terrifying Lovecraftian journey, powered by Unreal Engine 5. Experience a heart-pounding survival horror as you explore the flooded city of Arkham and fight eldritch monsters beyond human comprehension.

The kickstarter is live. The only one that looked to fit me was the complete digital version, so I backed it at that. Interesting that they're only asking for 100k.
They probably have a good chunk of the financing and this is just them attempting to get anything they might be able to upfront instead of after the game is done.

Wow, that didn't take long to fund. Wonder what the final tally will be?

I think the target sum they put down for the kickstart was probably moreso symbolic. They probably just want to gauge the amount of interest and also get some support before release.

That's pretty impressive. I wouldn't have expected almost double the goal in 1 day.

Hopefully they can improve upon the first game.

Pretty steep price-wise, no? I remember campaigns in the golden KS days to start at $25 or $30 for the base digital edition.

Yeah, 45 Euros is $49-$50 American. That's expensive for the the first tier of a Kickstarter especially for a AA developer.

For a regular kickstarter, that asks for most of the budget to be financed through kickstarter, I would agree. But since they're only asking for 100k, that's obviously way less than the budget, and more of an open-ended way of topping off their budget before the game is shipped. Giving them more financial security and getting a market signal of how wanted the game really is.
Given all of that, the way I look at this kickstarter is more of a way to buy the game full price ahead of it being done; but we are in no way crowdfinancing the whole game. (I guess this will also depend on how large the kickstarter gets).

With that in mind I have no issue with what the tiers start at. I got the 55 euro version with all the dlc. We'll see if I regret it or not.
