The Totally NEW Team Corwin Thread

Since I have several toons that I can bring around and back to lvl 3, I'll just use sherrille next group.

In that case, we'll blast Harbinger1 and then maybe swap over to epics and finish our adventures in the Night Revels. I've got RhoGu set up for warhammers because gimping a gimp cleric seems like pure genius, but I've quickly discovered that there's jack-crap for named warhammers, particularly at low level. The spectrals out of Revels are about as good as it gets so I need to farm out mats and build me up at least the lvl4, 8, and 12 versions.

Alrik, do what's fun but eventually you need to develop a toon with some TR (and ETR) past lives and reaper points or you'll continue to fall further and further behind the group power-wise. We've farmed out some raid gear for you over the past few years but that stuff's all bound-to-character so your first-lifers can't use it.

Had another thought... Would everyone have access to at least one iconic class (not sure what's VIP, what's linked to top-grade expansion buys, and such)? Not for this round, but perhaps for the next one we could all agree to run iconic and start at lvl15. That would be a new perspective.

That would be an option, and skip past some of the really low level stuff that we kinda have to hit every life. IQ1 (or 2) and the two Lordsmarch chains will get us our Coin Lord favor without having to run stuff way over level; Kundarak won't take us long to get to since both Red Fens and Vault of Night are low Epics and will cover both tiers of favor. Basically jump straight into Myth Drannor and Gianthold and keep going. I don't think any of the Iconics are linked to VIP; they were all top tier expansion bundles except for (I think) Bladesworn Paladin and Purple Dragon Knight (maybe PDK was free? Or Bladeforged was). I think maybe Morninglord was a mid tier Shadowfell, since I ended up having to buy Shadar Kai separately. I think maybe Deep Gnome was also released by itself without an expansion. Trailblazer, Scourge, Scoundrel, Razorclaw, and Chaosmancer were all definitely Ultimate Bundle expansion buys. So Corwin might be a bit limited in options, unless Trevor buys him some points.

Problem is Corwin actually; how will he get by without his Korthos gear?

To 30 as a DRUID. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

We should farm out the heart seeds to ETR too.

As an aside; I hate Threnal. I do have all quests from Level 1 to 10 in my spread sheet now, and I'm only missing Necro 3 at 11-12. I had forgotten how much XP Shadow Crypt gets too, compared to how fast I can run it. 60k+ for under 15 minutes. Basically a quarter of the level by itself. 55k just for completion. Given that I kinda skipped some XP I needed to bank for later, I'm probably going to have to hit Necro 3 (or do Night Revels with whatever keys I've accumulated). I refuse to solo Cursed Crypt though.

My Internet is having issues, so if I'm not there, or drop out you can blame it. Sometimes it works fine and then it can simply drop out. Let's hope it's working tomorrow.

The XP tomes are on sale through the 24th.

I know there's some who are cheap and grumpy *coughcough* but, honestly those tomes are likely the primary reason some of us run ahead on XP so much. The Greater tome is +50% XP on a first time run on each quest. Since we're almost always 1 and done, that's a huge difference between those who have none. A 10kXP quest becomes 15k. This is on top of the Voice/Pale Green 5% and VIP 10%, so it adds up, but the VIP isn't going to make much of a difference, not compared to a greater XP tome. Yeah some of us can run extra to help catch up, but that just means they'll be that much further ahead. At some points we've have third lifers nearly a level ahead, without using XP pots.

It might be worth it to pick a character for the Friday groups, to consolidate the TR lives (itself would be a huge boost in the long run), and put a Greater XP Tome on them for that big 50% bump.

I just put a +2 WIS upgrade tome into the Gen Chest 1 for anyone who needs it; looks like this life it my life for tomes. I think I haven't gotten that many this year up until now, and I've been actually running Mirys quite a bit.

Well, I'll TR Grimmaramma again, then. I'm not sure yet into what ...
One thing I always wanted to try out is a ranged Rogue ... in principle, he can throw bottles like an Alchemist can as well, only explosives, though. I have no idea, however, how far this is feasible ... I'll decide within the next days. Perhaps even a monk, which is a thing I always wanted to do as well.

Inquisitive rogue works well. You are limited to none repeating, light or heavy cross bows. Not nearly as many named in game as are repeaters. Damage is not great in lower levels, starts to go up around 12. Really good in Epics provided you build right. I hate the lower heroics as a solo on one.

There's a patch today, as they bring up and bring back down the new 64 bit server that apparently lags worse than the 8 bit servers we normally play on. Maybe they're doing like Atari did with the Jaguar and counted two 68000 Motorola CPUs together as 64 bit? Cormyr is already down. :p

They did do a nerf to ranged toons. The shoot time between each is longer, and they put in time delays on Fuselage shots. The damage went up per shot to compensate for the slow down. I tested my Epic Cross bow build, I didn't notice and change in the timing or damage so looks like those small numbers will help with lag but not mess up your builds. Have not get an arti to test it on. I have heard people with arty builds complain.

I've heard people not on Arty builds complain too. Barbarians are complaining. Paladins are complaining. New Jersey is complaining.

I logged onto Cormyr; it's still got some stuttering going on. Considering the smaller population numbers, and lack of hordes of abandoned characters, those Atari STs aren't doing so hot. I got a pseudo-guild going; a guild of one.

It is VERY weird running around on Liliandra; actually looking at loot gen? Not having 30% striding at level 1? Not one shotting everything by sneezing? I did get a raider's box for the Year of the Dragon, so I already have a Sword of Shadows.

I also don't remember how to get to, well anywhere. Been using the ship for so long that I've not gone the long way to 3 Barrel Cove or anywhere else in ages.

It is kinda fun in a way, actually looking at loot gen and picking items that might be useful later. Either as crafting blanks or for a future build.

I placed a few Bigby Hands into General Chest 2.
I have no use for that.

Our "summer time" aka "daylight savings" ends in the night towards October 27th.

Still getting semi-regular crashes for no apparent reason. Been blaming my ISP but I've about eliminated that possibility which points back to the client. The way it comes in a rash and then disappears for months at a time really makes me wonder if they get some glitch in the client from time to time.

Between that and recovering from a hospital stay, I might be short timing a bit this week. We'll see how it goes.

I just had the most miserable, tedious run of Against the Demon Queen.

Specifically in Monkey, every time I pulled the lever to open the timed gate to the next section, the game lagged out. Once it cleared out enough to move again, pull the lever, and here's the lag again. Going by my hireling, I was in there for 45 minutes, at least 30 of which were spent in Monkey trying to get past a lever.

I had big plans for doing nothing yesterday but the game was basically unplayable with all the disconnects I was getting. I was the only person awake at the time so there weren't any pulls on the internet besides mine. I turned Malwarebytes off completely with no effect. I tried firing up different internet pulls immediately after the crashes (Youtube, Netflix, etc) and they all ran smooth as can be so I don't think I've got router/wireless problems. I dropped power on the modem to reestablish my connection to the provider and no change. I haven't done a clean install, but that made no difference last time around.

A few years ago, this cropped up and then magically went away after a month or so. There's got to be some sort of code in certain builds of the client that just doesn't play nice with something in my laptop.
